Mahindra XEV 9E Electric SUV Makes Toyota Fortuner Look Like A Bullock Cart In Drag Race [Video]

The number of manufacturers entering the electric vehicle segment has increased in the last couple of years. We have seen a rise in the popularity of EVs, and some Indian manufacturers have even built world-class products. Mahindra launched their EVs, BE6 and XEV 9E, in the market earlier this year, and deliveries have also begun. We have now started seeing videos related to the ownership experience of these EVs online. Here, we have a video where a Mahindra XEV 9E owner is seen competing against a Toyota Fortuner SUV in a drag race.
The video has been shared by Babu Bhaiya on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger, along with his family and friend, goes to a Mahindra service center in Agra. The car ran out of charge on the highway and had to be taken to a service station on a flatbed.
The vlogger visits the dealership and service center, thanks the staff for their help, and then takes his XEV 9E. They are driving towards Delhi, which is close to 200 km from Agra. The vlogger maintains a speed of around 80-90 kmph to get a good range from the car.
A Fortuner Legender is also with the group, and they are both heading towards the same destination. The vlogger drives the car on the expressway for quite some distance before taking a break. During the break, the XEV 9E and Fortuner drivers decide to get into a drag race. It was a friendly race where they both bet against each other.
The Mahindra XEV 9E is driven by the vlogger, while his friend is behind the wheel of the Fortuner Legender. The race is conducted in three rounds. Both the XEV 9E and Toyota Legender are in Race and Sport Mode, respectively.
The AC is also turned off for better performance. All the rounds have a rolling start, as they cannot block traffic on an open expressway. The race starts, and in the first round, the Mahindra XEV 9E takes the lead and wins. The EV pulls ahead almost immediately, and the Fortuner doesn’t stand a chance. The vlogger then prepares for the second round. In this round, too, the XEV 9E takes the lead and wins.
For the third and final round, the vlogger decides to give the Toyota Fortuner an advantage of a couple of seconds. The race starts, and the Legender driver takes the lead, cutting into the XEV 9E’s lane. For a moment, it seems like the Fortuner might win, but that changes as soon as the vlogger starts pushing the XEV 9E.
The electric SUV effortlessly catches up and matches the speed of the Fortuner. In the video, we see the instrument cluster revealing that the XEV 9E was overtaking the Fortuner at around 160 kmph.
EVs are extremely powerful, and since there is no energy loss through transmission, the electric motors work efficiently, delivering power to the wheels with minimal loss. The Mahindra XEV 9E is an extremely powerful SUV the 79 kWh battery pack variant of the EV generates 282 Bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. The Fortuner, on the other hand, uses a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine that generates 204 PS and 500 Nm of peak torque.
