The Toyota Fortuner holds a stellar reputation among car buyers. Many dream of owning it and are often overwhelmed with joy when they finally get it realised. The video of one such incident has now surfaced online. It shows a family taking delivery of their brand new Toyota Fortuner, and the wife shedding happy tears on the achievement.

The Video

This video is from Mumbai and was shared online by Lakozy Toyota, a dealer there. It starts by showing the customers- a couple dressed in smart casuals- arriving at the dealer in an auto-rickshaw. The guy is seen talking to someone over the phone (probably informing their point of contact at the dealer of their arrival) and the woman has a box in her hand.

They walk towards their new Fortuner that's parked in front of the showroom. It has a White colourway. The woman places the box on its hood, with a face filled with joy. She then folds her hands, closes her eyes and sheds tears of joy... Later in the video, we see her perform rituals on the newly bought vehicle. This is in fact, a common tradition in India.

The couple then moves inside the dealership to complete the paperwork and receive the SUV officially. Once the paperwork is done, they move to the Fortuner parked outside. It now has a shiny Red veil on, which the couple remove together, marking the official beginning of many miles together. Celebrating the achievement, they hug each other. The man then shakes hands with various dealer staff as they welcome him officially to the Toyota family.

We then see the Fortuner with its hood popped up. The lady then does pooja and aarti on the new SUV. In the Hindu culture, this is done to express gratitude to and seek the deity's blessings for safe times with the new vehicle. It is also believed to bring prosperity to the vehicle and its owner(s).

The husband then breaks a coconut in front of the SUV. This again, is a religious practice which is believed to bring prosperity and purity to the new vehicle. It is also seen as a way of seeking blessings and protection for the vehicle. The act is also believed to ward off negativity. The video ends by showing the couple driving home in their new Fortuner.

More About The Fortuner

The Fortuner is one of the very few models which manages to sell well despite being priced steeply. It currently has its ex-showroom prices in the range of 36.05 - 52.34 Lakh rupees. It is being sold in two forms- the standard Fortuner and the urban-oriented Legender. It is the standard Fortuner that the family here added to their garage.

Toyota's most popular SUV in India continues to bank on its rugged underpinnings and a strong reputation for reliability to garner sales. In a recent update, the carmaker added new 'Neo Drive' variants to the Fortuner lineup, which come with mild-hybrid diesel engines that promise better fuel efficiency and a handful of new features.

The mild-hybrid variants get the same 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine as the base of their powertrains. It, is, however, mated to a new 48V hybrid system with a belt-integrated starter generator and a Lithium-ion battery. The vehicle is also claimed to have smoother restarts and better low-end acceleration. The power and torque remain unchanged at 204hp and 500Nm respectively.

Its newest pricing has placed the Fortuner in the luxury SUV segment. There are several monocoque offerings that you can buy in this price bracket, which interestingly offer better kit levels as well. This Toyota has thus become an 'emotion-driven buy' for most...
