EVs Launching In 2025 With 500 KM+ Range: Maruti eVitara to Tata Harrier EV

2025 is likely to be the year when we see a lot of electric vehicle launches in India. We are expecting it to be one of those years when EV adoption rates are likely to go up. The reason for this is the number of new models entering the market. Every manufacturer in the Indian market has, or is at least working on, an electric vehicle expected to be launched later this year. One of the main issues with EVs is the range, and it looks like most manufacturers are addressing this issue with their new models. Most of the new EVs launching in the Indian market are offering a claimed driving range of over 500 km.
This gives customers the much-needed confidence and push to buy an EV. Also, the declining cost of batteries, along with better models and competitive pricing, helps the case. Here, we have a list of electric vehicles that are expected to be launched in India this year.
We’ll start with Mahindra because they were the first to showcase or launch the electric SUVs for 2025. The BE6 is an all-new EV that has managed to grab the attention of the audience with its bold looks and features. It features a futuristic design that is extremely similar to the concept. Mahindra will be revealing the variants and their prices later this month.
The BE6 will be offered with two battery pack options – 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The smaller battery version will offer 535 km, while the larger battery version will provide 682 km on a single full charge. The electric motor, powering the rear wheels, generates 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.
Next is the XEV 9E, a premium product that sits above the BE6. It is also powered by the same 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options. The car will be officially launched later this month alongside the BE6. The XEV 9E offers a driving range of 542 km and 656 km for the smaller and larger battery packs, respectively.
MG recently announced that they’ll be bringing their electric sports car, the Cyberster, to India. MG will be setting up a chain of dealerships called “MG Select” that will sell only premium products, with the Cyberster being one of the first. It takes inspiration from the MGB Roadster of the 60s. Like most MG cars, it will be loaded with premium features and will be powered by a 77 kWh battery pack with a dual-motor setup. The electric motor generates 510 PS and 725 Nm of peak torque, and it offers a claimed driving range of around 580 km.
Maruti Suzuki will unveil their first electric vehicle for India later this month. It is an all-new electric SUV built from scratch. It is named the eVitara to help buyers easily relate to it. This mid-size SUV will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV. Maruti will be offering the electric SUV with two battery pack options.
There will be 49 kWh and 60 kWh battery pack options. The larger battery version is likely to feature a dual-motor setup with AWD, offering a claimed driving range of slightly over 500 km.
Toyota’s version of the eVitara will also enter the market. It is likely to be offered with the same battery packs and features as the eVitara. The larger battery version will offer a driving range of over 500 km.
Next on the list is the Harrier EV. The Indian manufacturer has been testing this EV for quite some time. The Harrier EV is special for Tata as it will be the first EV from the manufacturer to offer AWD. The SUV will have a design inspired by the Harrier ICE variant. It is likely to feature the largest battery pack compared to other Tata cars. Tata is expected to offer a battery pack ranging between 60 kWh and 80 kWh, with a range of anywhere between 500 km and 600 km.
After the launch of the Harrier EV, Tata will launch the 7-seater version, the Safari EV. The Safari EV has also been spotted testing a few times, and according to reports available online, it might use the same battery pack as the Harrier EV and offer a similar driving range.
The Sierra EV is expected to launch in the second half of 2025. It will be available in both ICE and EV variants, with the EV expected to launch first. The Sierra EV will feature a design similar to the concept showcased at past Auto Expos. It will also share mechanical components with the Harrier EV. The electric SUV will have AWD capability and is likely to offer a driving range of over 500 km.
