Tata Safari Storme Owner Explains Why He Chose The New Safari Over Mahindra Scorpio-N And Thar Roxx [Video]

If you are in the market for an Indian SUV that can seat 7 people without actually spending a fortune, we have limited options like the Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio N & XUV700. When you are in the market for an SUV in this segment, it is natural to get confused and overwhelmed by the features and offers. Here we have one such video of an ex-Tata Safari Storme owner who shares the reason why he went and bought a new Safari instead of the Mahindra Scorpio N & Thar Roxx.
The video has been shared by Motowheelz India on their YouTube channel. The owner is based out of Goa and he had been using a Tata Safari Storme for all these years. But due to the age of the vehicle, it was starting to develop issues one after the other, and that is when he decided to buy a new car instead of repairing his Storme.
He was having difficulties sourcing parts, and the issues were becoming frequent, as he mentioned in the video. When he decided to check the cars in this segment, he had the Tata Harrier, Mahindra Scorpio N, and Tata Safari in mind.
He went to the Tata dealership and took a test drive of the Harrier. He was not very happy with the drive, as he felt it was not offering him a commanding driving position. He also mentioned that the ride quality was not something he enjoyed in the Harrier.
After the Harrier, he went and drove a Mahindra Scorpio N. He wanted a mid-variant of the SUV because he was not a fan of the panoramic sunroof. It was his personal choice. He drove the Mahindra Scorpio N and decided to book the Z4 variant. However, he did a bit of research and realised that the diesel engine in the Z4 variant generates less power than the top-end variant. Mahindra has been doing this with many of their models, where the lower diesel variants get an engine with a lower state of tune.
He asked the dealership staff about it, but they were trying to mislead him by telling him that Mahindra is offering the same power and torque figures as the higher variants. He decided not to buy the Scorpio N because of this reason, and he told the dealership that he was also interested in the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
He took a test drive and came away impressed. He wanted the base variant, which was coming with decent features, and the vlogger was happy with the performance too. He asked the Mahindra dealer in Goa to book the base variant, and the staff told him they would get in touch with him the next day.
The staff never called him after that for any confirmation. When the vlogger realised that the Mahindra dealer itself was not interested in selling the car, he wondered why he should put his money into it. He also mentioned that the waiting period on the Thar Roxx was around a year.
Finally, he went to the Tata dealership, took a test drive of the Safari, and decided to book one. He booked the Pure variant, which was being offered with a decent number of features. The owner liked the comfort and ride quality, as well as the driving position in the Safari over the Harrier. He also mentioned that the body roll in the Safari felt less than in the Scorpio N. He is definitely missing the RWD fun, and he mentions the same in the video.
In short, the only reason why he went back to Tata was because he was getting a better customer experience. If the Mahindra dealership staff in Goa had acted a bit more responsibly, he might have gone ahead and booked the base variant of the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
