Actor Fahadh Faasil Takes Delivery Of Volkswagen Golf GTI

The much-awaited Volkswagen Golf GTI has gone on sale in India, and customer deliveries have begun as well. Kerala has shown immense interest in the performance hatchback by racking up 50 of the total 150 units allotted for India. Among the takers are a slew of movie actors and celebrities. Fahadh Faasil is the latest to join the 'Golf Club'. The actor has now taken delivery of his GTI.
A photo shared on Instagram shows the actor receiving the car from the dealer staff. It was shared by Volkswagen Kayamkulam on their official Instagram page. EVM Volkswagen is the dealer partner in this area. This is in fact, the same dealer that organized a massive delivery event recently at Ramada Resort, where 25 brand-new Golf GTIs were handed over to their owners on a single day.
Fahadh seems to have chosen 'Grenadilla Black Metallic’ as the preferred colour for his performance hatchback. In the picture that's surfaced, we see the car with its LED headlamps, illuminated logo and full-width light bar turned on.
The actor is known to possess a slew of exciting cars and SUVs. From Mini Countryman to a Lamborghini Urus and a Porsche 911, he has many drool-worthy machines in his garage. The Golf GTI happens to be the newest member.
Previously, a few other actors from the Malayalam film industry had also taken deliveries of their Golf GTIs. The first one to do so was Jayasurya, who got the car delivered from Volkswagen Thrissur. A video of this later surfaced on Instagram.
Madhav Suresh, the son of the popular Malayalam actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, has also bought one. Pictures of him taking delivery and another showing him with the car had also surfaced. His GTI, however, is finished in Grey- a colourway that VW calls the 'Moonstone Grey'.
Mammootty, one of the biggest names in Malayalam cinema, is a staunch automotive enthusiast as well. He too has added a Golf GTI to his garage. The delivery of this car is yet to happen though. Interestingly, the actor already has the older generation (Polo) GTI in his garage. He was an 'early adopter' of it back when Volkswagen had it on sale here.
Joju George is another actor who is known to have bought the new Golf GTI, but is yet to take delivery of it. We hope to see the pictures and videos of this delivery in the coming weeks.
It is surprising that a small state like Kerala managed to rack up as many as 50 orders for the Golf GTI. The Volkswagen leadership has always been vocal about Kerala being an important market for them. The first lot of GTIs just proved it again. We hope to see more Golf GTIs reaching this South Indian state as the subsequent batches start to flow in.
With an ex-showroom price of Rs 52.99 lakh, the Golf GTI is an expensive performance hatchback that's being brought to India as CBU imports. It houses a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine under its hood, mated to a 7-speed DSG. It churns out 265 PS and 370 Nm of torque.
The vehicle can do 0-100 kph run in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kph. It features a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout. Volkswagen has also given it features like progressive steering, electronically controlled front-axle differential lock, and Dynamic Chassis Control, to improve the handling and road manners.
