Social media has become such an important part of our lives that many people who do business are using these platforms as a medium to promote their products and services. With more people using social media, creators often look for unique ideas to attract viewers and buyers. At times, these attempts backfire. One such incident recently happened in Navi Mumbai, where road users panicked after they spotted a Toyota Innova on the road with a motionless hand lying out of the boot of the vehicle. It later turned out to be a prank.

The video has been shared by Free Press Journal on their X profile. The incident was recorded by a person who was passing through the same road as the Innova Crysta.

The video is from Vashi, and in the video, we can hear the person saying that they see a motionless human hand lying out of the boot of a Toyota Innova Crysta. The MPV was also being driven in a reckless manner, which made people even more suspicious about a possible crime.

They recorded the video and posted it online, and soon concerned authorities, including local police, came across it. Once they were alerted about the incident, they checked the video and traced the vehicle owner using the registration number.

The video was recorded at around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, and by around 8:30 p.m., the cops had traced the car and the occupants in it. After tracing the occupants in the car, things took a different turn. What was assumed or suspected to be a crime was actually part of a prank that the boys had planned to increase the sale of products at their shop.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ajay Landge said, “The boys were from Mumbai and had come to Navi Mumbai for a marriage when they made the reel. We have apprehended them and have verified the facts, and there is no suspicious element in this.”

The report mentions that police verified all the videos and found that the content of the reel was to show the hand hanging out first, when a biker stops the car and asks to open the boot. The boy whose hand was out then opens the boot, declaring, ‘Got afraid? But I am not dead.

I am alive. However, listen to the amazing offer that we have on laptops.’ The social media video was being shot to promote laptop offers at their shop.

We have seen people promote their products online by coming up with creative videos in the past. However, this is the first time we have seen something like this.

After the incident went viral, officers took action against the occupants. A case has been registered against the four individuals under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which deals with rash and dangerous driving.

Never do such pranks on public roads, as you might not end up getting the desired response and could end up in trouble with the authorities. Such acts not only cause inconvenience to other road users but also scare people, as they might not know the truth behind it.
