Family In Car Attacked By A Mob Of 40 In Pune: Dashcam Video

Road rage incidents in India have increased over the years. While we see improvements in road infrastructure in many parts of the country, we often come across incidents that prove Indian roads and highways are not safe for night drives. Here we have an incident from Pune, Maharashtra, where a family traveling in a car at night was followed and attacked by goons on the road. Dashcam footage of the whole incident has now gone viral on the internet. The saddest part of this case is that the police have yet to take any action.

The video was shared by Pune Pulse on their X profile. In this video, we see a couple traveling through a narrow road in a town in Pune. They explained that they were on the Lavale-Nande Road when the incident occurred. Ravi Karnani was traveling with his family in the car when he suddenly spotted a group of men waving at their car with long sticks and stones.

Sensing danger, Mr. Karnani didn’t slow down and continued driving forward. Just a few meters after that, they saw a group of people with chairs and other tools in their hands, preparing to attack the car. The driver sensed that things were not right and decided to accelerate.

It should be noted that they were driving through a narrow road with no street lights. The goons, or mob, were actually hiding on the side of the road and would suddenly come towards the road when they saw a car approaching. It is unclear if there was a specific reason why they were targeting this vehicle.

Whether the car was involved in a crash or accident in the area is unknown. Regardless of the reason, the driver was now focused on escaping the situation. They soon realized they were being followed by a couple of men on a motorcycle. The car driver maintained a safe distance from the bike to ensure they wouldn’t be hit by the metal rod the men were holding.

At one point, the biker was in front of the car, and the pillion rider was waving at the driver, likely asking him to slow down. This could have been an attempt to rob the driver or harm the occupants. By this time, the woman inside the car was scared, and we could hear her crying and chanting.

She desperately wanted to escape. The bike followed the car for some distance until they reached a small junction where they saw a few lights, providing some relief. Sadly, the goons were waiting there as well. Before they could jump in front of the car, the driver quickly drove the vehicle away. There were other vehicles on the road, but the attackers were focused solely on this car, which is what makes the situation so strange.

The car owner mentioned that at least 40 people were present on the road, all targeting their vehicle. Karnani noted that they went to the police, but the authorities did not intervene.

Many people have commented under the video. One of them wrote, “I hope the family is safe. Police should take strict action against these goons so they don’t do it again.” Other comments included, “Fadnavis turned Maharashtra into Bihar,” “Why didn’t he run over those bikers for self-defense?” and “@Dev_Fadnavis @mohol_murlidhar There is no police presence in Pune, neither to protect people nor to manage traffic… @puneruralpolice, take some action.”
