Mother, 2 Newborn Children Escape From Burning Maruti S-Cross [Video]

Lately, we have been seeing a lot of videos and reports about vehicle fires from different parts of the country. Some of them happen in new cars, while others occur in older ones. One such incident was recently reported, where a mother and her two newborn children managed to escape from a car that caught fire while it was in motion.
The video has been shared by Manorama News on their YouTube channel. In the report, the presenter mentions that the accident happened in Kerala’s Thrissur district. The car was a Maruti S-Cross, and the owner of the car, along with three other occupants, was travelling back home from the hospital. The owner of the Maruti S-Cross, Saji, and his wife were recently blessed with twins. They were actually travelling back to their home from the hospital with their 8-day-old children in the car.
The car was passing through the National Highway when a person on the side of the road asked him to stop the car after seeing smoke or fire coming from under the bonnet. The owner managed to stop the car, but when he tried to open the door, it wasn’t opening.
He panicked as the smoke coming from the car had started to increase. He tried a couple more times and finally managed to open the door. The owner, along with his wife, newborn kids, his wife’s mother, and a relative, got out of the car. They also managed to get their belongings out of the car before it completely caught fire.
In the video, we can see that the car is completely engulfed by flames. The incident happened at around 8 PM yesterday. Once he got his family to a safe spot, he or someone who had gathered at the scene called the fire and rescue department. They came and doused the fire.
By the time they arrived, the car was completely destroyed. From the pictures available with the report, it is evident that the front and top half of the car are completely destroyed. We believe the interior of the car has also suffered major damage. The exact cause of the fire is not known at the time of publishing this story.
There are many reasons why a fire could break out in a car. The major culprit in most cases is a short circuit. In many cases, people often go for aftermarket accessories that require modifications to the existing wiring. If the connection is not done properly, this can often lead to a short circuit and vehicle malfunction. There have been several incidents like this featured on our website in the past.
The occupants in this Maruti S-Cross were extremely lucky because the twins in the car were on their maiden journey to their home from the hospital. If the door had not opened in time, the occupants, along with the children, could have suffered serious injuries.
While we are not sure about the cause of the fire in this case, it is a good example that shows the importance of getting your vehicle inspected and serviced in a timely manner. There have even been cases where cars have caught fire after a fuel leak.
In some cases, people even carry petrol in bottles inside the car as a backup. This often heats up inside the car and causes a fire. Other than this, we have also reported several incidents where people have claimed that a type of fly was actually cutting the petrol line on cars due to the presence of ethanol in the fuel. These flies pierce through the thick rubber hose and cause fuel leakage, which, when unnoticed, leads to fire.
