Vijay Shekhar Sharma
Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO of One97 Communications, which is the parent company of Paytm, has finally bought himself the Tesla Model Y. Back in 2016, when Tesla commenced bookings for the Model 3, Sharma was the first one to pay a $1,000 booking amount. However, it was later cancelled and refunded due to Tesla’s uncertainty of entering the Indian automotive market. Currently, he owns the Model Y finished in Stealth Grey color.
Siddharth Jain
Next up in the list is the first Indian businessman to buy India's first Tesla Model Y - Siddarth Jain. He is the Managing Director of INOX Group and has opted for the Stealth Grey shade for his Tesla Model Y. When he tweeted about the delivery of his Model Y, billionaire Elon Musk, who owns Tesla, congratulated him.
Pratap Sarnaik
When Tesla Mumbai started the deliveries of the Model Y, Pratap Sarnaik, Transport Minister of Maharashtra, became one of the first ones to take delivery of the Model Y. He reserved this electric SUV on the day Tesla commenced the bookings. As per Sarnaik, the Model Y is a gift from him to his grandson, and he has chosen the classy shade of Pearl White multi-coat which costs Rs 95,000 extra.
Rohit Sharma
The former Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has become the only Indian cricketer to buy a Tesla Model Y. He has also opted for the Stealth Grey shade for his Model Y. As for the registration number, he has chosen the number “3015,” which signifies his kids’ birthdays. His daughter Samaira was born on 30th December and his son Ahaan was born on November 15th.
Riteish Deshmukh
Long before Tesla made its entry into India, the popular Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh bought a Tesla Model X, the flagship electric SUV from the brand. However, his Tesla is not located in India. It was a gift from him to his wife Genelia D'Souza, and it is finished in the bright shade of red.
Prashant Ruia
The director of Essar Group, Prashant Ruia, became the first Indian to privately own a Tesla in India. He bought and imported a Tesla Model X finished in the classy shade of electric blue. Over the years, he has been spotted on multiple occasions driving this flagship electric SUV from the brand, which is known for its famous falcon-style rear doors.
Pooja Batra
The former Miss India Pacific and actress Pooja Batra, who also lives abroad, is a proud Tesla Model 3 owner. This particular crossover EV is the most affordable product that Tesla offers. Initially, it was believed that Tesla would be launching the Model 3 in India as its first product. However, it launched the Model Y first and might launch the Model 3 in the coming period.

Last but not least, the only person to own not one but two Teslas in India is none other than the country's richest man, Mukesh Ambani. The famous “Jio Garage” includes two Teslas - a Model S 100D and a Model X 100D. Both of these are the top-of-the-line variants and offer mind-bending performance.
