Tata is one of the leading names in the electric vehicle segment in India. They have a variety of models in their lineup. It all started with the Nexon EV, which was Tata’s first passenger electric vehicle. While Tata has come a long way, it looks like their EVs still have some niggles. Here we have a video where a group of farmers are protesting outside a Tata Motors dealership after the Nexon EV that the farmer bought broke down 27 times.

The video has been shared by Kadhaivattam Tamil on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see a bunch of farmers wearing white shirts and green shawls standing outside a Tata dealership in Tamil Nadu. It looks like the dealership is somewhere near Coimbatore. The owner of the faulty Tata Nexon EV had bought the electric vehicle 4 years ago. While buying, he had MG and BYD as other options in the market, but he went with the Tata brand as he had heard a lot about it from his friends and family. The Indian brand sentiment was also a factor in decision-making.

The first year after buying the car, he had not faced any issues. However, after the first year, the car started showing problems. He mentioned that the battery was not holding charge properly. Initially, the car used to shut down at just 2 percent charge. Later, this increased from 2 to 27 percent. It’s not just one farmer who is facing this issue. The video mentions that there is another farmer who bought a Nexon EV and is facing the same problems.

The complainant, or the customer, can be heard saying in the video that he has been stranded in the middle of the road on several occasions. The Tata dealership sold the car to him by giving him hopes and promises that they would support him in case of an issue. He was also promised a loaner car, which he never got even after the car broke down 27 times.

The owner is now really angry with the dealership staff and the service they provided, and he wants to return the car to Tata and has demanded a refund. The owner is so frustrated that he even mentioned this car was not just a bad buy, but it has also become a reason why people insult him now. Many have mocked him for spending Rs 15 lakh on this vehicle.

The owner mentioned that the dealer did repair the vehicle initially, but the issues continued to return. The farmer is so frustrated that he feels cheated and even said that the government should ideally stop Tata from making EVs as they are unreliable.

The customer has threatened the dealership with a protest in front of their premises, and he plans to call in more farmers to strengthen his side. He demanded to meet Tata officials, but no one has got in touch with him. The Tata dealership, on the other hand, has asked the customer for one more week’s time to resolve the issues. They said they would either replace the car or refund the amount.
