When we talk about build quality, brands like Mahindra and Tata are the ones that come to mind first. Maruti Suzuki models are often called tin cans because of their thin exterior skin. However, the reason why Maruti Suzuki cars are still popular among buyers is their reliability and refinement. Here is an example that proves the same. We have a video of a Maruti Baleno that was completely crushed and damaged in the recent floods in Kullu. However, despite heavy damage to the exterior and the cabin, we see the car still moving on the road.

The video has been shared by Nikhil Saini on his X profile. In the video, we see a Maruti Baleno with a completely damaged exterior, missing bumper, bonnet, windscreens, and windows on a bridge in Tirthan Valley, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Apart from the exterior, the interior of the car has also been damaged. We also see a damaged roof and rear.

Usually, when a car has this much damage, people declare it a total loss, especially considering it was involved in the heavy floods in the region. It looks like the car had fallen into the river and was swept away by the strong current, crashing into boulders and getting crushed by them. Usually, people lose hope with such vehicles as the chances of reviving them are pretty low.

We are surprised that the owner managed to locate the vehicle, and even after so much damage, the car was still in moving condition. The wheels and tyres looked fine, and with minor repairs, we assume that the engine was brought back to life and the driver decided to drive the car to the nearest dealership instead of taking a flatbed.

While we do not recommend doing this, as the chances of things going wrong in the car are pretty high, the brakes or even the electricals can fail and cause accidents. It is always a good idea to opt for a flatbed in such cases.

The video has been shared online with a caption:

“Maruti Suzuki Baleno survived the harshest floods, covered in mud yet still running strong. We always glorify foreign brands, but our Indian cars prove their worth in the toughest conditions. Video from Tirthan Valley, Kullu.”

North Indian states like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand received heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, and landslides this year. Many villages were washed away in the cloudburst and many people lost their lives and loved ones. Roads connecting several of these areas were also damaged due to heavy rainfall.

If you have been a fan of the original Top Gear series from BBC, you might remember an episode where they tried to destroy a Toyota Hilux to see if it was indestructible or if it would still work after abuse from water, fire, and even being thrown under a building that was being imploded. In the end, the Hilux, without the need for any major part replacement, was still in working condition. We feel the Baleno seen in this video would have reminded many of us of the same, just like Top Gear’s experiment.
