Royal Enfield bikes flooded after heavy rains

This video showing the flooded Royal Enfield motorcycles has been shared on X by Naveen Reddy on their page. In this short clip, we can note that a number of the bikes parked in front of a Royal Enfield dealership were almost completely submerged in the floodwater. These bikes included Continental GT 650, Classic 350, Interceptor 650, a Himalayan 450, and a Hunter 350, along with many others.

As per the reports, this particular Royal Enfield dealership is Koramangala Motors. It is located on Hosur Main Road, Krishnanagar Ind Area, in Bengaluru. Most likely, these are brand-new bikes; however, there could be a few customer motorcycles as well. We can note that the entire road is flooded, with the water level being high enough to cover the wheels of a truck parked.

How to avoid buying such flooded motorcycles?

What happens after such incidents is that some dealerships will not disclose such floods and will repair the vehicles which were submerged in water and sell them off as brand-new. However, if you want to avoid buying such vehicles, here are a few things you need to keep in mind and check around.

The first and most important thing to do before buying a motorcycle or a car after any such flooding incident in your city is to ask for PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). You can either do this check yourself or you can pay a third-party company to help you in checking the condition of the vehicle. During the PDI, check for water ingress, rusting, and electrical components.

Another thing which you have to check is the manufacturing date of the vehicle and the date of dispatch. If there is a big gap, then the vehicle could have been held back for repairs. Additionally, before taking delivery, you can also check for water stains, moisture under seats, rust on bolts, brakes, and exhaust.

Apart from these checks, you should also ask the dealership for a clear disclosure in a written letter. If the dealership is honest and the vehicle was not submerged in floodwater or had any previous damage, they would readily provide the disclosure. However, if the dealership hesitates, then most likely there is something which is being hidden.

Apart from the above video, another video has been shared on X. In this video as well, we can note that the roads have been completely flooded and scooters and bikes are floating. Despite this, there were a number of people who were still driving their vehicles on such flooded roads, causing more potential damage to their vehicles.

The post stated that, “Buy a Boat, Not a Bike: Bengaluru’s New Monsoon Survival Kit Under D.K. Shivakumar. Is this the ‘Brand Bengaluru’ we were promised? The monsoon hasn’t even arrived in full force, yet Bengaluru is already drowning. Roads across the city are waterlogged, resembling rivers more than streets.”

It added, “@BBMPCOMM has completely failed in its basic responsibility of maintaining the city’s infrastructure. Drainage systems are either clogged or non-functional, roads are crumbling, and sanitation is in shambles. Instead of preparing the city for rains, it seems the BBMP has turned a blind eye to the worsening condition of Bengaluru.”
