Goenka shared pictures of him taking delivery of the vehicle along with his family. It looks like the former Mahindra MD has chosen 'Desert Myst' as the preferred colour for his SUV. The XEV 9e's colour palette consists of 8 shades: Desert Myst, Everest White, Nebula Blue, Tango Red, Gold Dawn, Deep Forest, Ruby Velvet, and Stealth Black.

He appreciated the SUV and its capabilities in his Twitter post. It reads: "We are now proud owners of the XEV 9e. The car delivers everything it promised and more. Thank you Mahindra for creating this feature-rich, tech-laden masterpiece."

Considering Goenka's background and rich expertise in automotive R&D (Research & Development), and taking into account his long tenure at Mahindra and stints at General Motors (GM), this endorsement stands extra special. He is also a person with deep knowledge of the Indian automotive landscape and evolving buyer preferences.

Mahindra XEV 9e: A Closer Look At It

Mahindra launched the first two of its Electric Origin SUVs- the BE 6 and XEV 9e, in late 2024. These were showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 as well. The deliveries, however, started commencing this month (March 2025) and Goenka is one of the first persons to receive the SUV. In the past few months, we saw many public figures, influencers and VIPs experience the BE 6 and XEV 9e, and most if not all were impressed by the technology and performance offered by these.

The XEV 9e can be called an electric coupe form of the XUV700. It draws slightly from the Internal Combustion Engined (ICE) cousin in terms of design and stance. The coupe-like roofline is probably the biggest talking point of this electric vehicle (EV). Unlike the XUV 700 which comes as a seven-seater, the 9e is a strict 5-seater.

Since it is an EV, the 9e gets a closed-off grille section and aerodynamic wheels with low-resistance tyres. Other highlights of its design include full-width light bars at the front and at the rear, LED lighting, gloss Black body cladding and a strong focus on overall aerodynamics.

Mahindra has stuffed the XEV 9e's cabin with all sorts of technology and features. It comes with three large 12.3 inch screens, which the manufacturer calls the “Cinemascope Cockpit.” Even the rear passengers get two individual screens for uncompromised entertainment.

Other features offered are VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor for the cockpit engine with 24 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, ventilated seats, an infinity glass roof with integrated lights, electrically adjustable front seats and a multi-zone climate control.

The safety suite consists of 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Level 2+ ADAS and more. The EV is particular about keeping its battery safe in the event of a crash. It has also scored a full 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash tests.

Two battery packs are on offer on the XEV 9e- 59kWh and 79 kWh- both sourced from BYD. The vehicle is based on Mahindra's in-house developed INGLO platform. This skateboard platform has been developed in India adhering to global standards and hence the name.

The electric motor, on both the BE6 and XEV 9e, sits at the rear, and has been sourced from Valeo. On the 59 kWh version, it produces 228 Bhp and 380 Nm, whereas with the larger battery pack, it generates 282 Bhp and 380 Nm. The 79 kWh version claims as range of 656 km per charge.
