Remember the disappointed owner who sold off his Nexon for a mere six lakh rupees? Well, he seems to have finally found a replacement. He has bought a Ford Ecosport from the pre-owned car market and says that it gives him much more mental peace than what the Nexon used to.

Jaiby Joseph has shared a video on his Youtube channel 'JBI Live', in which he details his experience with the Ecosport. He starts by saying that despite buying a brand new Nexon, he wasn't confident enough to do long drives with it, due to the umpteen number of issues that the car used to present.

The Nexon ownership, he says, was traumatizing! After selling it off, Jaiby waited for some time before bringing a replacement home. In the meantime, he drove a Maruti Ignis and was on the hunt for something that would give him peaceful ownership. Reliability was now more important to him than anything else.

Jaiby says that he considered a slew of models from the Hyryder to Innova Crysta and the Hycross. All these were later rejected and he explains the reasons in the video.

He wouldn't buy the Crysta as it didn't offer an automatic transmission with the diesel engine and he was not ready to sign up for the 'BS6- Adblue' game. He then considered the Hycross, but later came to the conclusion that it was pointless to spend 36 odd lakhs on a vehicle which would be used by just two people!

The next option was the Hyryder- a seemingly good fit for a small family. He wanted the strong hybrid variant, which was however, priced north of 20 lakh rupees. It was also rejected as spending so much was still getting him something similar in size to the Nexon which he had sold off, and which didn't feel 'as good to drive'.

Then he considered the Maruti Grand Vitara AllGrip (the all wheel drive variant). Upon second thought he says, he felt it to be too pricey to deliver the value he expected. He then arrived at the conclusion that the 'new-car market in our country is in a state that the affordable segment doesn't have options that could impress him'. At least some of us would agree to this claim.

Jaiby then turned to the pre-owned car market. He found a lot of attractive deals there! Finally, he bought a Ford Ecosport as the replacement for his Nexon. As you know, Ford announced its India-exit in September 2021. This guy has thus bought a vehicle with zero brand support. But surprisingly, he says that the ownership has been very peaceful!

Transitioning from the Nexon to the Ecosport, Jaiby is impressed by the digital-detox. 'Less screens and more buttons' is something he particularly likes about this vehicle. He says that the presence of less electronics on the mechanical front makes the Ecosport easy to repair. You don't have to rely on authorized service centres (which are very limited in number for Ford) alone.

Despite having zero brand support, sourcing spares isn't an issue- says this owner. He relies on websites like Boodmo, owners clubs or local spare parts dealers for sourcing spare parts and components.

He further acknowledges the shortcomings of the Ecosport- comfort at the rear row, stiffer suspension, underpowered engine etc. The maintenance costs, he says, is lower than what his Nexon used to have.

In the closing remarks, he makes a bold claim that it is possible for someone who has managed to keep a Nexon to own a Mercedes Benz from 2015-17 era. While the statement sounds ambiguous, it definitely shows how unsatisfied this owner was with his Nexon...
