Indian Entrepreneur Explains How He Went From A Maruti Omni To Range Rover Autobiography

Successful entrepreneurs often inspire many with their car purchases. It isn’t always about how expensive the new car is that inspires, but the journey that the entrepreneur had embarked on to get there. Recently, Shivkumar Borade, the founder and CMD of MyTek Innovations, a technology startup, bought a brand-new Range Rover Autobiography. Following the same, he shared a heartfelt note online explaining his journey from a humble Maruti Omni to the Range Rover.
In the post shared on social media handles including Instagram and Linkedin, Borade starts by talking about his humble beginnings. He says that he used to walk to school on an empty stomach, as a child. This entrepreuner’s seems to be a true ‘rags to riches’ story. Together with his family, he lived in a mud house with a leaky roof.
His father ran a small garage, and he used to deliver newspapers, do welding and painting jobs, and even taught Karate to earn and contribute to the family’s collective income. His income was also used to pay for his own education.
He says that back then, they ‘did not dream big’. The focus was on making it to the next day. Every rupee mattered very much and went into the family’s daily needs. But he held onto a ‘quiet, stubborn hope.’
Borade finally started Mytek Innovations Pvt Ltd with an investment of Rs 5 lakh, and with no proper office setup. He and the co-founder Ashwajeet Wankhede worked from home and would meet at some cafe in Chembur to plan and build their shared dream.
The duo could scale the company in the years that followed and today, MyTek is an AI-powered EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and manufacturing marketplace. It works by connecting project bidders who take government or agency work orders with contractors. This helps them manage everything from the workforce to tools and technology. This eases the process and makes it more transparent.
MSMEs and A+ grade companies are now their primary clients. The areas of interest include domains like civil work, IT & ITES, telecom, automobile, and architecture & mechanical-electrical-plumbing.
The company, headquartered in Navi Mumbai, currently posts multi-crore revenue. (In the previous financial year, it had a turnover of over 10.5 crore) Interestingly, MyTek is still a bootstrapped company, meaning one that was founded and grown without external funding.
So, recently, Borade decided to buy a new luxury SUV. In the early stages, he used to own a Maruti Omni worth Rs 3 lakh. This time around, the intention was to buy a Range Rover Sport. He walked into the showroom and checked the Sport out. In his post, Borade says ‘I test drove it… but something didn’t click.’
Considering his feedback, the dealer showed him the Range Rover Autobiography. The MyTek founder says that the vehicle instantly impressed him and he dozed off in its comfortable back seat. He then knew that this was the car which he had been manifesting, despite it costing almost double his budget!
Today, a Range Rover Autobiography can cost over Rs 3.5 crores. It is seen as the epitome of luxury and is powered by a 3.0L Ingenium turbocharged petrol engine that produces 394 hp and 550 Nm. Despite weighing over 2.5 tonnes, it can do the 0-100kph sprint in just 5.7 seconds.
Borade further says that the post isn’t about him upgrading from a Rs 3 lakh car to something that costs over 3 Crores, but about dreams and how he could build his dreams despite having to start with nothing. He encourages the readers to dream big, innovate, work hard, and flourish.
