Indian Billionaire Adani’s Multi-Crore Car Convoy On Video

Gautam Adani, the Indian billionaire industrialist and founder and chairman of the Adani Group, is the second richest man in the country. Being a key figure in India's business landscape, Adani travels in an expensive, high-security convoy. The video of one such outing was recently shared on Instagram. It shows two Range Rover LWB Autobiography SUVs rolling through Gujarat roads, accompanied by a group of Fortuners and an Urbania.
As the clip opens, we see the convoy moving through busy roads. A couple of Black Fortuners, two Range Rover Autobiographies and the Urbania are seen moving in a line. Later, we see these driving in a different formation through less-busy stretches.
A Fortuner is seen first, closely followed by one of the Black Range Rovers. It is the LWB (Long Wheelbase) variant that now has a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 2.57 crores.
Today, the Range Rover LWB Autobiography is available with two engine options- a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid setup. Earlier, the SUV was also available with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system.
This engine made 291hp and 650 Nm, and was a favourite among people who preferred big, torque-heavy diesel SUVs. This engine came paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This variant was later discontinued and has a last recorded ex-showroom price of Rs 3.07 Crores. The models seen in the video seem to be the same. It is likely to be a high-security version.
This generation of the Range Rover was underpinned by the MLA-Flex platform and came with adaptive air suspension and a new five-link rear axle. The ride quality was excellent. The vehicle uses the in-built navigation system to mitigate the change in terrain or geography and adapt the suspension accordingly. It even came with electronically controlled active anti-roll bars for further improvements in ride quality.
In addition to these, this generation also had rear-wheel steering and a stiffer chassis. Another key attraction is the updated Terrain Response 2 suite. While 23-inch wheels were offered in the global markets, the India-spec came with 21-inch units. This generation was quite popular among wealthy businessmen and celebrities.
One of the biggest reasons for this acceptance was the amount of space and luxuries that this SUV offered. It came with features like a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster, 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with haptic feedback, Executive Class Rear Seats (standard on LWB Autobiography), 11.4-inch passenger entertainment displays, 1600-watt, 35-speaker Meridian Signature Sound System. This setup even integrated active noise-cancelling speakers into the headrests!
The cabin, in general, feels plush and cosy. There is a generous use of sustainable luxury trims and materials inside.
Another Fortuner is seen driving parallel to the Range Rover, followed by a Force Urbania finished in dark Grey and another Fortuner. Force launched the Urbania in 2022, as its new-generation van built on the T1N platform. It comes with a global design and has a comfortable cabin. Many have already built motorhomes, vanity vans and luxury caravans using this vehicle as the base.
The Urbania in this video, is likely to have high-security reinforcements and a cosy caravan-like interior. It could also be the case that this vehicle is used by Adani’s healthcare personnel. We lack clarity there. Behind the van comes a second Range Rover that looks like of an identical spec. It is followed by another Fortuner.
The Fortuners are likely used by the security personnel. This Indian billionaire enjoys Z-category VIP security from the Indian government. It is indeed interesting to see how the VIP convoy culture has been evolving in India.
