Matthew Hayden's Daughter Gives A Closer Look At Mahindra's First Compact Car For Australia

Australia is an important overseas market for Mahindra. The Indian carmaker currently has four of its models on sale there- XUV700, Scorpio-N, S11 4x4 Pikup and the XUV 3XO. Cricketer Matthew Hayden's daughter and content creator, Grace Hayden was recently seen in a walkaround video shared on Mahindra Australia's official YouTube handle. She is seen giving a closer look at Mahindra's first compact car for Australia- the XUV 3XO. It went on sale in Australia in early July.
The video starts by showing Grace Hayden giving a brief introduction to the SUV. She then goes on to list all her likes and things which caught her attention in the 3XO. She starts by commenting on the design. The 3XO has a sharp styling. Mahindra's 'Twin Peaks' logo gels well with the streamlined grille. The LED DRLs get a unique yet striking design. Several premium textures and trims can be spotted at various places.
Later in the video, we see her talking about the interior quality and features. Mahindra has packaged the SUV well, giving it all the features that buyers look for in this segment. Grace loves the XUV's panoramic sunroof, which the carmaker calls the ' Skyroof'. The 3XO also gets two 10.25-inch screens- one for infotainment and the other as the driver's display.
The touchscreen gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It comes with a premium 7-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. There is even a full-screen navigation projection for the driver on offer. Grace also likes the 3XO's 360-degree parking camera is and finds it useful.
Mahindra has also given the 3XO selectable drive modes. There are three modes on offer- Zip, Zap and Zoom ( roughly equating to Eco, City and Sport). These help in optimising fuel efficiency and performance to suit individual driving needs.
Being a content creator, it is important for Grace to have her phone and devices fully charged even when she's on the move. This is likely why she appreciates the 3XO's charging options so much. Mahindra has given it a wireless charging bay and a 65W C-type USB port.
She also praises the XUV 3XO's powertrain. In Australia, it is offered only with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, which is peppy and fuel-efficient. It produces 109 hp and 200 Nm of torque.
In India, the 3XO has three powertrains to choose from- two turbocharged 1.2L petrols (one of which has direct injection) and a 1.5L diesel. Interestingly, Mahindra hasn't launched the TGDi engine in Australia yet.
Another major difference is in the variant lineup. India is a price-sensitive market. Mahindra has given the 3XO nine variants in India, spread across two lines- MX and AX. In Australia, however, just two variants are offered- AX5 and AX7. These have drive-away prices of $23,490 and $26,490, respectively. Opting for a metallic colourway will incur an additional cost of $495.
Matthew Hayden has been associated with Mahindra since 2015. In more recent times, we saw the father-daughter duo promoting and endorsing products like the Scorpio-N and XUV 700. In fact, Hayden owns a Scorpio-N and has also installed several accessories in it. Grace added a brand-new Mahindra XUV 700 to her garage in December 2023.
The two have been the brand faces of Mahindra Australia. In 2023, they visited India, and drove high-speed sorties with the XUV700 on Mahindra's test track at MSPT (Mahindra SUV Proving Track) in Chennai. They also did slaloms and various other dynamic courses with the SUV.
In the coming years, Mahindra is expected to launch more products in the Australian market. We expect to see the father-daughter duo do more Mahindra campaigns, likely with these as well...
