Harshvardhan Rane Becomes First Bollywood Actor To Buy Maruti Jimny And Modify It

Bollywood actors are often known for their lavish lifestyle and larger-than-life characters on screen. Expensive cars and bikes are part of their lives, and they keep changing them from time to time. While most of them go for expensive stuff, there are a few people in the industry who truly understand that you don’t have to spend a lot to have fun. We feel Bollywood actor Harshvardhan Rane is one such person. After the custom Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, he has now added a customised Maruti Jimny, and we believe he is one of the first actors in the industry to do so.
The images of him standing with the Jimny have been shared on his Instagram profile with a witty caption that says, “Tyre chotey, Ambition badey.” (Small Tyres and Big Ambitions). He has customised the car to his liking and opted for a unique theme. It is not a wild-looking, extreme off-roading type of modification, but rather a sober and subtle set of changes that give the car character.
The Jimny that the actor owns is finished in a white shade, with red and blue livery covering the front fender, both doors, and the rear fender. He has named it Django. The caption is apt for the Jimny, as it is a highly capable yet underrated SUV.
He has not opted for an aftermarket grille, headlamps, bumpers, or even tyres. Everything about the Jimny here looks stock, and we are not sure if the actor has gone for any performance upgrades. We have often seen actors go for expensive cars and bikes and customise them to their liking. However, this is the first time we’ve seen someone go for a Jimny. It remains a highly sought-after SUV in the international market.
As most of us know, the Jimny was initially a 3-door SUV. However, when Maruti planned to launch it in the Indian market, they had to redesign and reimagine the SUV as a 5-door vehicle for added practicality. The SUV was priced quite steeply, which drove many customers away. Later, Maruti started offering discounts on the Jimny, and many people who wanted the SUV bought it then.
It is available only with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 103 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
Coming back to Harshvardhan Rane—we assume that he likes to add a bit of customisation to all his rides to make them feel unique. The Shotgun 650 he owns is also one such example.
While Harshvardhan Rane owns a customised Jimny, he is not the first one in B-town to buy one. It was actually actor Fardeen Khan, a popular star of yesteryear, who bought one earlier. He not only owns the SUV but is also often seen driving it on a daily basis. The compact size of the Jimny makes it a great car for a city like Mumbai with heavy traffic.
