Out-Of-Control Honda City And Toyota Fortuner Sliding Away On Wet Road (Video)

Many people, while driving on a wet road, forget the risk of aquaplaning and drive at high speeds. However, every once in a while, an accident comes across the internet which reminds us of how dangerous aquaplaning can be. Recently, a video of a Honda City and a Toyota Fortuner sliding on a national highway has been shared online. Most likely, this accident took place after these two cars started racing against each other on the public highway.

This short clip of the accident involving a Honda City and a Toyota Fortuner has been shared on YouTube. It comes courtesy of Prateek Singh. In this video, we can note that there is a person riding a bicycle on the side road of a national highway. The person then shows the highway on which a white Honda City and a white Toyota Fortuner were sliding.
From the video, we can note that the Fortuner first crashed into the Honda City while being at a very high speed. Most likely, these two cars were racing each other, and one of them, or both, lost control of their vehicles after they both started sliding due to the water on the national highway.
Both of these cars can be seen completely turning while sliding on the road. Also, while sliding, both cars hit the divider as well. This is what eventually helped them to slow down and stop. Following their halt, a number of people gathered around the two cars to check if anyone was injured or not.
From the video, it appears that no one was injured during this accident. However, both cars received substantial damages. The video first shows the Toyota Fortuner, which was surrounded by a ton of people. It can be noted that the entire front bumper of this SUV was damaged and it came off after crashing with the divider.
Additionally, the video also shows the damages on the Honda City. A big chunk of the left side of the front bumper was missing. Apart from this, the rear right quarter panel received a massive dent. However, apart from these, both cars appeared decent, and they managed to protect the passengers inside.
For those who may not be aware of the term aquaplaning, it is also called hydroplaning, and it occurs when a layer of water builds up between your vehicle’s tires and the road surface. This water buildup causes a loss of traction and makes the vehicle uncontrollable.
So, to prevent this, maintaining your tires is crucial. You have to ensure that your tires are properly inflated according to the manufacturer’s specifications and check tire pressure regularly. Make sure to do this especially before long trips. Invest in high-quality tires with deep, well-designed tread patterns.
Apart from this, another main contributing factor is driving habits. The most important thing which these two car drivers in the above-mentioned accident did not do was maintain a controllable speed. They both were driving at a very high speed, which significantly increases the risk of aquaplaning.
So make sure to reduce your speed in wet weather, as it is one of the simplest yet most effective measures. High speeds make it harder for tires to channel water away. This increases the likelihood of hydroplaning.
Also, avoid sudden accelerations, decelerations, and sharp turns, and strive for smooth, gradual movements. You also have to avoid puddles and standing water; if you can’t, slow down before you reach them and drive through at a steady, controlled speed. Following in the tire tracks left by the vehicle ahead can also reduce the risk.
