High Tech Car Thieves Steal Brand New Hyundai Creta In 60 Seconds [Video]

Today, as we all know, cars have become like moving computers. They are now so heavily loaded with technology that almost all of the systems are controlled by control modules. As a result of this tech, stealing cars has also become a lot quicker, as thieves are now using sophisticated computers. Recently, a video has been shared online in which two men were seen stealing a brand-new Rs 20 lakh Hyundai Creta in just 60 seconds.
The video showing the stealing process of a Hyundai Creta has been shared on Instagram by Car Social India on their page. In this short clip, we can note that a black-colored Kia Seltos arrives in front of a home outside which a black Hyundai Creta was parked. What happens next is that a young man comes out of the Seltos with a screwdriver and cracks the driver-side window.
He then immediately breaks it completely and clears the edges, soon after which he sits back in the Seltos and the car gets reversed. Following this, in the second round, another young man wearing a full face mask and holding an OBD tablet device connects it to the car and then starts programming.
He can be seen doing a few clicks on the tablet, and in just the next moments the cars are unlocked. Following this, the person who broke the driver-side window comes back and sits inside the car. Soon after this, he turns on the car and makes a U-turn and follows the Kia Seltos.
As per the reports, this particular incident took place back in June of this year in Safdarjung Enclave, Delhi. This particular Hyundai Creta was only 6 months old when it was stolen. The owner of this car was extremely shocked after the incident. He immediately filed an FIR. It has been reported that the vehicle has not been recovered so far.
The owner of this Hyundai Creta raised his concern to Hyundai and asked them to improve their vehicles' cybersecurity. He also asked the company to strengthen anti-theft software. Additionally, the owner added that modern cars rely too heavily on software, and this software-first approach is now helping criminals by making it easier for them to steal cars.
After watching this video, if you are also an owner of a car which is tech-loaded, you might also have this question in your head as to how you can avoid getting your car stolen, right? Well, the first thing that you need to do in order to protect your cars from thieves is to make sure that you avoid open parking as much as possible. Prefer secured society complexes with well-lit spaces.
You can also opt for old-school physical anti-theft locks as well. These locks may not help in completely stopping the criminals, but they slow them down. The locks include steering wheel locks, gear lock, wheel clamp, and pedal lock. Also, make sure to install a good-quality GPS tracker in your car and place it in a position where nobody can guess and access it.
If possible, you can also install motion sensors and disable OBD with lockable covers. Additionally, you should ideally have a surveillance camera facing the vehicle and also make sure to cover your car to make it harder and longer for thieves to try stealing it.
