6 Month-Old Hyundai Creta Stolen In 60 Seconds By 'Tech-Savvy' Thieves: Video

Vehicle theft is a major problem in most places in India. In fact, not just India, but many other countries as well. Just like cars, thieves are also updating themselves and are relying on the latest technologies to steal vehicles. We have come across several videos in the past that prove the same. Here we have a video where a 6-month-old Hyundai Creta, which was parked outside the owner’s house in the National Capital, got stolen in just under 60 seconds.
The video has been shared by the owner himself. The incident was captured on the CCTV camera that was facing the car. Most people in Delhi-NCR, who do not live in high-rise apartments, park their vehicles outside their homes. This Hyundai Creta was also parked like that. This happened in Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave at around 4:30 AM on 21st June 2025.
The owner was sleeping in his home while his car was parked outside. At around 4:30 AM, a Kia Seltos passing through the road stopped in front of the Creta. One of the occupants from the car got out and checked the vehicle. After this, the Seltos moved forward and the person jumped back into the car.
A few seconds later, the Seltos came back in reverse and another person jumped out of the car and ran towards the driver’s side of the vehicle. Within seconds, he broke the windshield of the SUV with a tool he was carrying. Not only did he break the glass, but he also ensured that the shattered pieces were cleared so that he could access the cabin easily.
After breaking the glass, the Seltos, along with the person who broke the glass, drove away. After 15 minutes, the Seltos returned, and this time a different person wearing a mask jumped out of the vehicle with a device.
He probably connected the device to the OBD port in the car and ran some tool. Within seconds, he managed to unlock the car, and once that was done, the masked man ran back to the Seltos while the person who had broken the glass returned and sat inside the vehicle.
He unlocked the car, and even without any security alarm going off, the thief was able to start the vehicle and drive it away.
The owner of the vehicle was shocked when he realized what had happened. He did file an FIR with the nearest police station, but it has been of no use. The police have not been able to track the vehicle.
The owner is, in fact, questioning Hyundai in his post and asking the company to improve their security software. Most cars available in the Indian market today rely heavily on software and technology. It looks like this has made things a lot easier for thieves.
If possible, try to avoid parking in open places like in this case. Try to park your vehicle in a place with proper lighting. Thieves do not like too much light as it would attract a lot of attention. If your vehicle is broken into, you can ensure that it is not driven away by using physical deterrents.
People use wheel locks, gear locks, and even steering locks. These may seem like old techniques, but they are still quite useful today. If you watch the video, the thieves didn’t take much time to steal and drive the car away.
If they find a car with too many locks and obstructions, they will naturally leave the vehicle and look for easier options. This is because it might require more effort, and the chances of them getting caught during this time are pretty high.
Also, ensure that you install a GPS tracker in your vehicle. It will alert you in case of an intrusion or attempted theft. You can also track the live location of your vehicle if it gets stolen.
