Welcoming a new car to the family is indeed a special, auspicious occasion. People usually celebrate it in various ways. If you look at the age demographics of people who celebrate new luxury car purchases, it is very unlikely that you’d find grandmas in there. A recent video on Instagram shows two South Indian grandmas celebrating the purchase of a brand new Range Rover Autobiography by their grandson.

The reel is from Kerala and features two grandmas. It starts with one of them saying ‘ You bought the Lamborghini in Dubai. But, we need a good car in to travel in Kerala too.’ The grandson completely agrees to the idea and asks her what car she wants. To this, the grandma replies ‘How about a Range Rover then?’.

The video then shows the second grandma to which the grand son asks ‘ Shall we buy a Range Rover Vogue then?’. To this, the grandmum says ‘Vogue is not enough, I need an Autobiography’! For those of you who might be unaware of the same, the Autobiography LWB is the range-topping variant of Range Rover and comes with a lot of room, luxury and features inside the cabin.

The Autobiography is available with both petrol and diesel engines in India. The ex-showroom price starts at ₹2.61 Crores and goes up to 3.30 Crores for the Plug-In hybrid. The grandson here bought his Range Rover Autobiography in Santorini Black. The cabin is finished in a Deep Garnet colourway and gets perforated Semi-Aniline leather seats. The Autobiography offers a lot of personalisation opportunities and colour choices.

This is not the first time that these Indian grandmas go viral on the internet out of their love for cars. A previous reel shows them advising the grandson to buy a Lamborghini.

In this video, the grandson asks if he should get a Porsche or Ferrari in Dubai. The grandmother says ‘Neither. Go get a Lamborghini.’ The Instagrammer seems surprised by the response. The video further shows him taking both the grandmas on taxi rides in a Yellow Lamborghini and a Red Urus. It shows the Urus doing insane stunts in Dubai. This video soon rose to huge popularity and people started flooding the comment section.

In yet another reel, the grandson, who goes by the name Anand, asks ‘ How about buying a Porsche?’ to which the grandmoms reply ‘ Porsche is a good car. But everyone has it’ and ‘the doors won’t go up when you open them. So son, you go get a McLaren…’ Anand is surprised by the response and double confirms it.

The video further shows him taking delivery of an Orange McLaren 765 LT Limited Edition. The car has Dubai number plates. So the purchase should have happened there. A McLaren executive is seen congratulating Anand ‘for being the youngest Indian to own the car’.

We are not sure if all these reels were staged or if the grandmas are as cool in real life as they are in their reel lives. Either way, it feels nice to see successful sons and grandsons fulfilling the supercar and luxury car dreams of their parents and grandparents.
