John Alukkas, CEO of Jos Alukkas, an Indian jewellery retail group from South India, is a big-time car and bike enthusiast. He owns several expensive cars in his collection, many of which have been featured on our website. This time, during the Onam festival, John Alukkas bought a brand-new MG Cyberster electric sports car and shared an image of himself with the car on social media.

The image was shared by John Alukkas on his Instagram page. He is seen posing with his new ride right next to a flower rangoli (pookkalam). The MG Cyberster was recently launched in the Indian market. It is a special product, as it is the most expensive MG offering in their current lineup.

The MG Cyberster is also the world’s fastest MG. It is an all-electric, 2-door convertible sports car. The car is available in four shades, but Mr. Alukkas went with the signature red. The MG Cyberster is MG’s modern take on their iconic MGB Roadster model. The car comes with butterfly doors, a long bonnet, a convertible roof, LED lights, 20-inch wheels, and more. While it definitely looks like a traditional sports car, it is, in fact, a fully electric vehicle.

The MG Cyberster is offered with a 77 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup. Sixty percent of the power is sent to the rear wheels, while the remaining forty percent goes to the front. The MG Cyberster can sprint from 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. We drove the Cyberster, and we believe in MG’s claim.

The electric sports car generates 510 hp and 725 Nm of peak torque. Not only is it fast, but it also offers a claimed driving range of about 580 km. In real-world conditions, a customer can expect around 400 km of range, which is excellent for a sports car in this segment.

MG is offering features like a triple-screen setup, automatic climate control with seat ventilation, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, powered seats, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, an auto-dimming IRVM, and a premium audio system with the Cyberster.

The roof can be opened or closed within 10 seconds and can even be operated while the car is in motion at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Since this is a premium offering, MG will be selling it exclusively via their Select dealerships. They have already opened several Select dealerships in many Indian cities.

Apart from the newly bought Cyberster, John Alukkas owns many other expensive cars in his garage. He has a Lamborghini Huracán, while his daily driver is a Porsche 911. He also owns a Mahindra Thar 3-door and a Mahindra BE6 electric SUV.

He was one of the first businessmen from Kerala to take delivery of the current-generation Toyota Land Cruiser LC300. He has also participated in rallies and previously owned cars like the Honda CR-X and Toyota Sera, which he imported from Dubai. Before the Huracán, he owned a Lamborghini Gallardo.
