MLA Buys One Of India's Best Specced Maybach GLS Super Luxury SUV Worth 5.5 Crore

Politicians living a humble life is something that we only see in the movies now. Most politicians in India now lead a luxury lifestyle. Some of them can afford such a lifestyle because they or their family runs a business successfully. We have seen several businessmen turned politicians who use luxury cars instead of regular Innova Crysta and Fortuner to travel. One such legislature from Andhra Pradesh is VM Thomas. He recently bought a brand new Maybach GLS 600 SUV. In fact it is one of India’s best specced Maybach in the country.

The images have been posted by Rahul Thomas, who is actually the son of the MLA, VM Thomas. He is actually a medical student and also govt whip of the Telugu Desam Party.

The father and son duo are seen unveiling their new ride at Mercedes-Benz dealership. We all know that Mercedes-Benz offers a variety of modification or customisation options to its customers.

Just like any brand, these customisation come at a price and that increases the cost of the car too. A Maybach GLS600 is not an inexpensive car by any sort. A standard GLS600 costs around Rs 3 crore, ex-showroom. One of the posts by Rahul VM mentions that the car costs around Rs 5.5 crore.

It is actually the highest specced GLS600 in South India. The GLS600 has been a popular SUV and the politician decided to take it to the next level by opting for customisations. We do not have a list of exact customisations but from the images, it looks like the owner opted for a custom dual-tone shade, Maybach wheels, The Maybach logo on the front bumpers as well on the D pillar. We see the large chrome grille with Maybach branding on it.

The interior of the SUV also looks customised. The car is a 4-seater with a tall center console for both front and rear passengers. The interiors are finished in Ivory white shade. Mercedes might have different name for this shade.

The SUV is available with premium features like twin entertainment screens for rear seat passengers, electrically adjustable seats for all passengers, touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster and so on. As mentioned above, we don’t have details of the customisations that the customer opted for. Even the paint job would cost you in lakhs.

It comes with premium features lounge-style seating, a panoramic sunroof, a rear-seat entertainment package, a compact refrigerator, a Burmester audio system, and a virtual assistant.

The Mercedes-Maybach is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine, accompanied by a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine delivers a peak power output of 557 PS and 730 Nm of torque. The hybrid system can provide an additional 22 PS and 250 Nm of torque on demand. A 9-speed automatic transmission channels the power to all four wheels.

We checked the Rahul Thomas’s instagram profile and found that the politician had purchased a brand new Range Rover Autobiography last year. It looks like Rahul also owns couple of expensive cars from brands like Jaguar and sports bike like Kawasaki Z900 in his collection.
