Bujji from Kalki

Indian SUV manufacturer Mahindra and JM Automotive worked on a custom project for the movie Kalki. It was big budget sci-fi movie starring actors like Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Hassan, and Disha Patani. One of the main characters in the movie was the vehicle Bujji. It is a three-wheeled futuristic car was called Bujji and many initially thought that it was just VFX. Many were surprised to know that it was actually a real car. Here we have a video where a tech YouTuber from India not only checks the car out but, also drives it.

Watch on YouTube

The video has been shared by Tech Burner on his YouTube channel. He is one of the biggest YouTubers who does tech reviews in India. In this video, the vlogger is completely surprised to see the Bujji car in person. He is excited by looking at this piece of tech. It definitely looks like an alien vehicle.

The best part about this vehicle is that it is functional and can be driven. This is actually an electric vehicle with battery pack mounted behind the driver’s cabin. The dome shaped fibreglass cover over the driver cabin has to be opened to enter the cabin. The wheels on the Bujji car is even another attraction.

To make it look futuristic, the car gets hubless wheels at the front. The are not connected to each other. Once you enter the cabin, there are lot of buttons and screen for the driver. As this is an electric car, it doesn’t need any dedicated place for engine and mechanicals. We see the rear of the car and the vlogger also shows the electric motor’s position.

The steering wheel can be adjusted as per the driver’s convenience. There is a manual gear knob with just driver and reverse in it. As this is a trike styled vehicle, the steering turns the rear wheels only.

The motor also powers the rear wheel. There are three screens inside the cockpit and each of them serve a purpose. The Bujji doesn’t get any ORVMs and we are assuming that the screens on left and right side of the driver probably show feed from the camera installed outside.

As this is a movie prop, some of the buttons have started coming off and the there are a few dents on the car as well. After checking out all the features, vlogger then sits inside the driver seat and then takes it for a spin.

He drives the Bujji car forward and in reverse before parking it back. As vlogger was not very experienced with the dimensions of this machine, he didn’t take the risk of driving and crashing it.

As part of the movie promotion, the cast and crew along with this Bujji car had travelled to several Indian cities. We have even seen videos of the same car being driven on the road as part of the promotion. We even saw a social media post where bossman of Mahindra, Mr. Anand Mahindra was checking out the car.
