India's First And Only Honda Civic Type R: A Closer Look On Video

When we say Honda Civic, most likely the first thing which comes to your mind is the old D-segment sedan, which is now discontinued, right? Well, you'll not be wrong if you imagined the same old boring Civic. However, recently India has received a Civic which is well beyond something you know this sedan for. We are talking about the country's first and only real Honda Civic Type R. Recently, a popular YouTuber featured this sedan in his vlog.
The video in which India's first Honda Civic Type R has been featured has been shared on YouTube by Horsepower Cartel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that he has been invited by the Mercedes-Benz Autohangar dealership to an AMG-only event for the owners of exclusive cars, following which he then takes his bagged Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

In the vlog, he drives and reaches the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, located at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Bandra East. Following this, he then shows the unique cars present at the venue. The list of these cars includes - CLE 53 Cabriolet, Coupe, E63 AMG, A35, C63 AMG, a few G63 AMGs, and a bunch of other high-performance AMG cars.

Following the event, the vlogger then goes for a drive with his friends in a convoy consisting of a BMW Z4, Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica, his Mercedes-Benz E-Class, A35 AMG, and many others. He then reaches another event where he spots a very special car. He mentions that it is the country's one and only privately imported latest-generation Honda Civic Type R. The host emphasizes that it is the only real Civic Type R, as there are a lot of others which are based on the standard Civic.

He firstly shows the car from the outside, highlighting the unique red Type R badges and satin black 19-inch alloy wheels, after which he then opens the driver-side door to reveal the beautiful red and black interior. The unique part about the Honda Civic Type R is that the front gets red seats, red flooring, and other red details. However, in the rear, it gets black seats and black details.
The 11th-generation Honda Civic Type R is one of the very special cars that Honda makes. It is not sold directly in India. Now, what makes it special is the award-winning 2.0-liter VTEC turbocharged engine. This motor is capable of producing 315 bhp of power and 427 Nm of torque, which make it one of the most powerful Honda cars. To increase the fun even more, it gets a 6-speed manual gearbox as well.

This sedan is also known for its super precise and exceptional handling. Honda has significantly made the body structure of the Civic Type R rigid and has given it a fully retuned dual-axis front and multi-link rear suspension. Other notable highlights which make it an event to drive are wider Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and a helical limited-slip differential, which help in minimising front-wheel slippage for precise steering during hard cornering.
As mentioned, Honda does not directly sell the Civic Type R in India. However, in Japan, it costs over 5.5 million yen. When converted into Indian currency, it translates to around Rs 31.5 lakh. However, with the 120 percent import duty and registration, insurance, and other costs, it easily crosses the Rs 1 crore mark.
