HR 88 B 8888 Rs 1.17 Crore Number Plate: Will Anyone Actually Pay?

Edit - The bid for the VIP registration number HR 88 B 8888 has been cancelled as the person with the winning bid did not pay the Rs 1.17 crore bid-winning amount. The same number will now come up for auction again.
One of the biggest news this week was the auction of India's most expensive number plate. Recently, the VIP registration number HR 88 B 8888 got sold for Rs 1.17 crore, shocking everyone in the country. Now, a lot of people are wondering on which vehicle this number will be seen, right. Well, recently, a YouTuber and popular social media influencer has stated that most likely this number will not be paid for by the person who has bid for it and will come back on the auction website.
The video in which the popular influencer Arun Panwar highlighted that the recently auctioned Rs 1.17 crore VIP registration number will not be seen on any car has been shared on Instagram. This short video starts with Panwar showing an edited number of “HR 8 BB 8888” on his Maruti Suzuki Victoris. He then adds that he is the person who has bid for the Rs 1.17 crore VIP registration number that recently became viral online.
Following this, he highlights that he is joking and adds that anybody can join these games (auctions) for VIP registration numbers. Panwar states that anyone who does not want to spend such a big amount but has the courage to let go of Rs 11,000 for fame can bid on such numbers. He then elaborates that the auction result of number HR 88 B 8888 is not the real deal.
Panwar states that the reality behind this is that the number mentioned above had a base price of Rs 50,000, and anybody who pays Rs 10,000, which is the registration fees, and Rs 1,000 security deposit will be able to bid any amount for any number plate on the Haryana VIP registration numbers auction website.
Following which, he highlights that the only thing that will happen if you don't pay the final bid winning amount is that your Rs 11,000 will be taken by the Haryana transport department. Apart from this, there will not be any other consequences. The number for which the payment has not been made will come back again to the auction website in the subsequent weeks.
At the moment, there is no official confirmation on whether the winning bidder for the HR 88 B 8888 will be paying the full amount of Rs 1.17 crore. The only thing which is confirmed is that the bid of Rs 1.17 crore has been placed for this number, but the number will only be allotted after the completion of the payment to the Haryana RTO.
If in case the bidder does not pay the complete Rs 1.17 crore, it will not become the first that a bidder will back out. In fact, this happens quite often where a number gets sold for a high price tag, but it ends up back in the auction due to non-payment.
However, we would like to clear it out that at this point there are still two possibilities. The first is that the bidder may not choose to pay the full amount. Meanwhile, the second possibility is that the bidder may actually end up paying the full amount and get the number plate allotted to them. What happens next will be found in the coming days.
