India's First Woman To Take Delivery Of A Golf GTI Also Owns A Polo GTI

If you are an automotive enthusiast who spends time on Instagram, you might already know Mia Joseph Chirakkekaran, who goes by the Insta name 'Octane Girl'. Her feed is full of expensive and fast cars and motorcycles. She creates content around vehicles from across segments. She had previously created headlines after her dad gifted her a Red Volkswagen Polo GTI on her 18th birthday. Mia has now taken delivery of the all-new Volkswagen Golf GTI, becoming one of India's first women to do so...

Videos of the delivery have been shared on her profile. It shows her arriving at the dealership along with her dad and sister, in the Polo GTI. The three of them then enter the showroom, where a couple of GTIs are parked. They have veils on them.

Mia then takes the cover off one of them. A brand-new GTI finished in Grenadilla Black Metallic is unveiled. To her surprise, she finds her Instagram name - OCTANE GIRL, written on its plate. We can see her confused at this point.

This brings us to the assumption that her family might have kept the purchase as a complete surprise and planned things in a way that she felt she was there to do the regional launch/unveiling of the Golf. It is common for brands to organize such activities and events these days. Or she might have been convinced that the car was for her dad or other close ones. We don't know the exact narrative yet.

Circling back, we see a man handing over the keys to the Black Golf to Mia. It is now that she gets completely convinced. Even her sister is surprised. After moments of disbelief, Mia receives the keys and checks the car out. The family then celebrates the purchase by cutting a cake and is even handed over a hamper by the dealership. Later in the video, we see them complete the paperwork and drive off in their new Golf GTI.

This purchase was made from Phoenix Volkswagen in Kerala's Thrissur. The South Indian state is witnessing heavy rainfall these days. Towards the close of this video, we see the Golf GTI speeding through a newly constructed stretch of highway, in the rain. It is seen speeding through patches of water with the wipers turned on. What a beautiful sight...

Kerala Seems To LOVE The Golf GTI

Kerala is loving the Golf GTI. The performance hatchback has already reached the garages of some of the biggest names in the Malayalam film industry and other public figures.

Actors like Mammootty, Fahadh Fasil, Joju George, and Jayasurya have already bought it. Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi's family garage has not one, but two of these- one is used by his son Madhav Suresh and the other belongs to his son-in-law. With Mia (Octane Girl) buying it, the Golf GTI has reached the Alukkas family as well. Sabu Johny, the helmsman of EVM Group- a major automotive dealer in Kerala, has also added one to his garage.

In the coming weeks we expect to see more entrepreneurs buying it or letting the big news out. From what we know, 50 of the first batch of 150 Golf GTIs have been bought by customers in Kerala!

The Golf GTI Excels With Its Specifications And Performance

This car does absolute justice to its 'hot hatch' title. It houses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol under its hood, which produces 265 PS and 370 Nm. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG (DQ381). It can sprint to a speed of 100 kph from a standstill in just 5.9 seconds. The top speed stands at 250 kph.

The GTI also comes equipped with progressive steering, electronically controlled front-axle differential lock, and Dynamic Chassis Control. It thus has razor-sharp handling and great dynamics.
