Just a few days ago, a video was shared online in which a social media influencer revealed the Rs 21 lakh discount on the newly launched Nissan X-Trail SUV. It was mentioned that this massive discount is being offered by Car.co.in, which is a company powered by the popular used car dealership Big Boy Toyz. Recently, another video showing a new batch of these brand-new Nissan X-Trails getting unloaded at the BBT dealership has been shared online.

This video showing the new batch of 0 km driven Nissan X-Trails being unloaded at the BBT dealership has been shared on Instagram by Big Boy Toyz on their page. In this clip, we can see an enclosed trailer from which a black Nissan X-Trail was coming out. There were a number of more X-Trails in the trailer which were getting unloaded.

We can also note that each of these Nissan X-Trails has their factory covers on the bonnet and roof intact. This suggests that they have either been directly sourced from Nissan India. However, it could be possible that another official Nissan dealership was involved in Big Boy Toyz getting these brand-new X-Trails. All of these SUVs also had complete alloy wheel covers as well.

How much are these Nissan X-Trails selling for?

As mentioned, just a few days ago, Big Boy Toyz and its subsidiary Cars.co.in listed these Nissan X-Trails on their website for Rs 29.5 lakh each. This is almost a discount of Rs 21 lakh from the original ex-showroom price of Rs 50 lakh. Currently, Big Boy Toyz has a number of different colors of this SUV available in its stock, and in the video, there are around 7–8 X-Trails.

There could be more in their inventory; however, the exact number is not known. For those who may not be aware, Nissan India launched the X-Trail back in August of last year. It had announced that it will be only bringing in 150 CBU (Completely Built Unit) of these SUVs to the country. However, the company has been unsuccessful in selling it.

Now whether Big Boy Toyz has been able to sell these 0 km driven Nissan X-Trails or not is currently unknown. This is because listing a vehicle on the website is one part and actually selling them is another. We say this because the Nissan X-Trail is an expensive car considering the design and features that it offers.

Why is Nissan unable to sell the X-Trail?

Today, Indian buyers do not hesitate in buying premium and luxury cars with high price tags. However, it has to be noted that Indian buyers are some of the most value-conscious buyers, and for the money that they invest in a premium car, they require it to have either each and every creature comfort feature or it needs to have bulletproof reliability.

In the case of the Nissan X-Trail, many experts at the time of the launch itself highlighted that this vehicle does not offer both. There are numerous shortcomings of the Nissan X-Trail; however, the most major one is its powertrain. The company offers this full-size premium SUV with just a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Now although it churns out a decent 160 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, it is not enough for the vehicle.

For comparison, the Toyota Fortuner, which is currently the best-selling full-size premium SUV in India, gets a much larger 2.8-litre diesel engine which makes 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Apart from this, the MG Gloster’s top-of-the-line variant, which comes with a 2.0-litre diesel turbo engine, makes 212 bhp and 478 Nm of torque.

So, anyone planning to buy the Nissan X-Trail immediately gets disappointed. Apart from this, although the X-Trail is a seven-seater on paper, its third row is almost unusable for any adult. The SUV also lacks leather upholstery and gets fabric upholstery instead. It also misses out on electric adjustment and ventilation for the driver/front passenger seats, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and many other creature comforts which you'd expect from an SUV of this price.
