Actor John Abraham Buys New 3-Door Mahindra Thar

Bollywood actor John Abraham is known for his passion for cars and motorcycles. He has been particularly fond of SUVs and even owns a bespoke Mahindra Thar ROXX. The actor has now added a second Thar to his garage, this time a three-door wearing White paint. A video shared on his Instagram handle shows the actor with the two SUVs.
In the video shared on his Instagram, we see John with his bespoke Black Thar ROXX and the newly-bought White three-door Thar. He says “ I want to introduce two of my very very special babies to you- a five-door and a three-door. A Black and a White...” The video then gives us a brief look at the two SUVs.
It doesn’t, however, specify the variant details of the three-door Thar. It is likely to be a range-topping diesel. We can also see its dual-tone front bumper, bold 18-inch alloy wheels and body-coloured grille. This video has gone viral, crossing over 812K views in just four hours.
John has been actively endorsing the Thar brand for over a year now. We remember meeting him at the launch event of the ROXX in 2024. He has since been part of several Mahindra campaigns around this iconic SUV. In March this year, we saw a bespoke Thar ROXX finished in Black reaching his garage.
The team at Mahindra customised its exterior and interior with a bunch of ‘John Abraham specials’. It gets multiple ‘JA’ (denoting ‘John Abraham’) badges. These sit on the fender, C-pillar and have also been embroidered on the seat headrests. The metal ornament on the dashboard has also been customised on this SUV.
Additionally, most Chrome elements on this vehicle have been blacked out. As we heard him admit in some of the previous interviews, John was particular about having Black as the colour of his ROXX. The Blacked-out Chrome aligns well with this preference.
John’s ROXX is a range-topping diesel 4x4 variant that comes with Mocha Brown interior colour scheme. This was introduced in October last year, and is exclusive to the 4x4 variants. Deliveries of Mocha Brown variants started commencing in late January this year. John has lately been daily driving his ROXX, and is quite fond of the experience.
In October this year, Mahindra gave the three-door Thar a notable update. The mid-lifecycle refresh brought minor styling improvements and more features to the SUV. The three-door now comes only with a hard-top and has a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
Changes on the design front include a body-coloured grille, dual-tone front bumper, and two new colours- Tango Red and Battleship Grey (both of which are already available on the ROXX).
Inside, the three-door SUV now features a new dashboard theme and a new steering wheel design. It now comes with rear AC vents, separate armrests for both occupants at the front, A-pillar-mounted grab handle, rear wiper washer, rearview camera, and a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The power window controls now sit on doors and the fuel lid can be operated from the driver’s cabin.
The facelift continues with the familiar set of engines and transmissions. You can choose from 1.5L turbocharged diesel (D117 CRDe), 2.2L turbocharged diesel (mHawk) and a 2.0L turbocharged petrol (mStallion) engines.
The output figures of these are 117 bhp and 300 Nm, 130hp and 300Nm, and 150hp and 300Nm respectively. The smaller diesel engine comes with a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) setup while all others are 4x4 variants. Mahindra has given the new Thar the Electronic Front Axle Disconnect feature, in hopes of improving the real-world fuel efficiency.
