The crash occurred on Medical College Road, near Kalamassery, at around 12:50 pm. The road here is narrow, and both vehicles were moving towards Kalamassery at the time of the incident. The Red Ferrari 488 GTB was reportedly trying to overtake a Mahindra XUV500, when it lost control and hit the median. The supercar was reportedly carrying decent speed. It took the impact, hit a tree nearby, and spun before coming to a complete halt. Sources say that no one was injured in the crash even though the Ferrari took significant damage. It feels heavy at heart to see this Ferrari 488 wreckage.

The front and rear of the Ferrari 488 seem to have been damaged. The wheels came off, and the fender, bumpers and several other body panels were damaged. It looks almost totalled- which we are not sure of yet. Minimal impact is seen in the cabin area.

Tony Jose, managing director of Josco Group was apparently fond of this 488 GTB. In a previous post on Instagram, he said he was in love with this car. It is unclear if it was him behind the Ferrari’s wheel at the time of the crash. The car had a registration plate that read- MH 04 JB 5000, and was originally registered at the Thane RTO. Records show that Tony Jose is the second owner of this 488.

Other Cars Owned By Josco Bossman

A quick look at his Instagram account suggests the Josco Managing director owns several other expensive cars as well. He was the one to own Kerala’s first (new) Audi A8 and the state’s first 2022 Range Rover Vogue. Over the years, we have also seen him with the Land Rover Defender 110, Bentley, Mercedes Benz G Wagen. In addition to the A8, he also owns the new BMW 740 Li and Mercedes S Class- the luxury trinity!

Ferrari 488 GTB: The 458 Italia’s Successor!

The 488 GTB had its production run from 2015 to 2019. It was introduced as the successor to the highly popular 458 Italia (F142). The two had a lot of design similarities. The 488 GTB( F142M), however, stood unique for being the first mid-engine Ferrari to feature a turbocharged engine since the original F40.

Powering the 488 GTB was a 3.9L V8 petrol engine ( Ferrari F154 V8 engine family) that produced 670 hp and 750 Nm. This engine had a compression ratio of 9.4:1. The predecessor- 458 Italia had a larger 4.5L V8 (F136 V8 family) which used to churn out 562 hp and 540 Nm.

While purists around the world continued to advocate for naturally aspirated Ferraris, the F154 engine proved that turbocharged Ferraris can be as much fun as the NAs if not significantly more. The 488 found many takers over the course of its life cycle and was finally succeeded by the F8 Tributo (F142MFL) in 2019.
