A couple in Kanpur is facing backlash after a video of their romantic bike ride went viral on social media. The 33-second clip shows the man riding a bike while his partner sits on the fuel tank, hugging him. Both are seen not wearing helmets in the video, and the dangerous stunt was performed in broad daylight. The same has agitated netizens.

What Happened in the Video?

The video starts with the couple walking toward a parked bike. The man carries his partner in his arms to the vehicle, and makes her sit on the fuel tank. The two are seen passionately involved with each other, syncing with a trending Instagram audio. The man soon starts to ride the bike with the lady still on the fuel tank, hugging him. Both are seen lip-syncing to the song. The video’s caption reads “It’s NOT RACE, it’s a journey enjoy the moment.”

It is clear from the visuals that the guy has a highly compromised vision when he rides the motorcycle, as the lady is sitting right in from of him, and the both of them are involved. Anything could have happened at this time, as the scenario resembles that of riding a bike blindfolded. Adding to this, neither of them are wearing helmets.

The video, reportedly filmed near the Ganga Barrage area in Kanpur, drew sharp criticism online. Many people called the stunt dangerous and irresponsible.

Police Investigation Is ON!

This viral reel has caught the attention of the Kanpur Nagar Traffic Police as well. They launched a probe after netizens flagged the reckless behaviour. The Ganga Barrage area falls under the Nawabganj Police Station’s jurisdiction.

Reports say the man in the video lives in Kanpur’s Awas Vikas area and has been fined at least ten times before, for violating traffic rules.

What’s The Danger Here?

The couple’s stunt was performed without wearing helmets, which are critical for safety. Riding on a busy road in this manner endangers not only the people involved but also those around.

According to set guidelines, helmets with proper thermocol padding (at least 20 mm) should be used while riding, as these can significantly reduce the severity of head injuries in case of an accident. They also recommend full-face helmets for both drivers and pillion riders to maximize safety.

Netizens REACT

Social media users criticized the couple for their actions. Many felt that such stunts promote reckless behaviour and set a bad example. The video has sparked a debate about road safety and the risks of prioritizing online fame over responsible living.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following traffic rules. Performing stunts for social media may seem exciting, but the risks involved are too high. Authorities are taking action to ensure such behaviour is discouraged in the future.

Road safety is not just a rule—it’s a responsibility. Always wear a helmet and follow traffic laws to keep yourself and others safe. Furthermore, make sure to choose the right helmet size and quality. ISI-certified helmets are to be used to ensure proper protection.

If at all you wish to perform stunts with your motorcycle, do it in a closed, controlled space, using proper protective gear (not just helmets). Never attempt these acts on public roads or with people around.
