Man Who Gave The Skoda Kylaq Its Name Takes Delivery Of The SUV
The Skoda Kylaq is currently one of the most popular sub-compact SUVs in the market, and it is also the top-selling car from the brand. Now, did you know that the name Kylaq was given by a man from Kerala? Well, last year Skoda announced a competition in which participants were asked to provide name suggestions for the Kylaq. As a result, this man from Kerala's entry won the competition, and it was announced that he would get a free Kylaq. Recently, the same man was seen taking delivery of his Kylaq.
Meet the man who named Skoda Kylaq
The video showing the man named Kylaq taking delivery of it has been shared on Instagram by Reen4Z on their page. This particular delivery was done by EVM Motors Skoda dealership, which is Kerala's top dealership chain. EVM Motors also recently became the first Skoda Auto dealership across India to deliver over 1,000 units of the Kushaq.
In this short clip, the creator mentions that this particular Skoda Kylaq belongs to the man who named this car. Following this, he added that the owner of this car is from his hometown, Kasargod, Kerala. He then introduces Mohammed Ziyad, who came to take delivery of the Kylaq with his entire family. The vlogger then asked him about his feelings.
To this, he replies that he is very thankful and grateful for this particular Skoda Kylaq. He added that he is especially grateful for the support he has received from Skoda Auto India. The vlogger then asks him about the inspiration behind the name. Ziyad reveals that the name is inspired by Mount Kailash and fulfills Skoda’s requirement of a name starting with K and ending with q.
Over 2,00,000 names were submitted
Before the official launch of the Skoda Kylaq, the company announced this competition. It was then revealed that over 2,00,000 people participated in this competition. It was announced that the winner would get the Skoda SUV as a gift. Meanwhile, the other top 10 contestants would be rewarded with trips to Skoda’s headquarters in Prague.

As mentioned, the Skoda Kylaq is currently one of the most popular sub-compact SUVs in the market. This value-for-money SUV gets a sharp exterior design, feature-loaded cabin, and a powerful petrol engine. Skoda offers the Kylaq with LED headlights, LED DRLs, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and many others.
On the inside, it gets a two-spoke steering wheel and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. It also features a 10-inch touchscreen with an updated OS, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, and a single-pane sunroof. Notably, it offers powered seat adjustments for both front seats, a segment-first feature, adding a premium touch.
Powering the Kylaq is a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which is capable of producing 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission. This is the same configuration found in the Kushaq. According to Skoda, the Kylaq can reach from 0–100 kmph in just 10.5 seconds.
