Why Nestle Gave This Indian Man A Car Full Of Kitkats [Video]

Getting a gesture of love (or appreciation) from our favourite brands always feels special. An Indian man recently had such a ‘superfan moment’ when Nestle sent him a ‘car full of Kitkat’, his favourite chocolate. Out of his love for the product, this man even gave his car a KitKat-themed wrap. A video of this went viral, eventually making the brand come up with the ‘sweet gesture’.
Rizwin Mizaj is a resident of Kerala. He is a car enthusiast and owns a Maruti Suzuki Swift- a model that’s often considered a symbol of ‘ spotiness’ by young, value-conscious buyers. Like many other young owners of the hatchback, he too wanted to add a personal touch to his car. Off late, he thought of giving it a wrap, inspired by something that he liked the most- the KitKat!
Rizwin says that he has always been a fan of this chocolate. He has fond childhood memories of it too. His father, an NRI, used to bring KitKats home during vacations. Even now, its taste brings back nostalgia...
So, Rizwin gave his Swift a Kitkat wrap- a White ‘Nestle KitKat’ logo that sits on the Red car’s doors. It looked almost like an old KitKat wrapper! In a later revision, he added a few ‘Chocolate waves’ as well.
Many videos and images of this custom ‘KitKat car’ were shared online, most of which got great traction online. Netizens loved the idea and engaged actively with content around the KitKat car.
Within months, the car became so popular that people began spotting it on public roads and recorded 'reels' and 'shorts' with it. Many of these videos went viral as well. Many tagged KitKat’s official handles, making sure the brand wouldn’t miss this hardcore fan from South India..
The content soon reached the people at Nestle. They decided to reward this fan's efforts with a 'sweet' gesture of love and appreciation. The company sent him a few large boxes full of Kitkat, enough to fill his whole car.
In one of the videos shared on its Instagram handle, it says, ‘Rizwin put KitKat on his car, so KitKat put Kitkat in his car!’.
In a post shared on his handle, we can see Rizwin posing with cartons full of Kitkats and a few other branded merchandise from the Chocolate giant.
Netizens are actively engaging with both the video and the post. “This is ACTUALLY the sweetest thing a brand has done all year” wrote a user. ‘He looks so genuinely happy OMG’, commented another. ‘This is what peak fandom looks like.’ - reads another comment. The internet also seems to have noticed how cool the Swift looks with the KitKat wrap. A user even asked in comments, ‘Why does this go harder than actual car designs?’
Many find the company’s gesture to be cute. It actually is... More importantly, it is a smart strategy from the brand’s end. Someone noticed this and wrote in comments: ‘You nailed it KtKat India. The way you accepted and took over your fan boy … the real strategy’. ‘This ad makes sense’- commented another user, appreciating the same.
Some of these comments have also sparked laughter online. One user wrote: 'I had a friend who used to stick ‘Apple’ sticker on his car. He is very disappointed now'. Another one commented ‘Bro didn’t choose the break life, break life chose him’, referring to KitKat’s official tagline ‘Have a break, have a Kit Kat’.
