The latest Mohanlal starrer 'Thudarum' is tugging massive crowds into theatres. People seem to love the movie and there is a lot of buzz around it online. We get to see social media posts and posters of the movie- most of which are catchy enough to make you book your tickets soon! However, the Kerala Police seems to have found an opportunity in one of the posters, to promote road safety, in (probably) the most unexpected way! The Department's official Facebook handle shared a post that shows a tweaked version of the movie's character poster, which tends to promote road safety.

To begin with, the word 'Thudarum' means 'to be continued'. One of the most popular posters of the movie shows Mohanlal, the lead actor, riding a Hero Splendour with a pillion. Both of them seem to be in a rush and neither has a helmet on.

Kerala Police likely has a bunch of 'extremely creative' brains in its social media team, as suggested by recent campaigns. These people took this poster up, cleansed it, removed the text, and tweaked the movie name in a way that it reads 'Thudaram'. The made it in a way that the copy reads 'let's continue the journey with the helmets on'.

A smart rework of the character poster thus produced an impactful social media post which urges people to wear helmets while riding motorcycles and scooters. Using a trending movie poster as the base would only make the actual impact of the post, spike.

Netizens React

The post shared across various social media platforms, soon went viral. Netizens flooded the comments with laughter and appreciation. One user joked, “Leave Lalettan alone, sir!” while another teased, “Sir, they’re going to get a helmet now!” In true fan spirit, one user even commented, “Sir, I need you to file a case (against Mohanlal)!” Another comment reads: “Given them a fine sir. Still… the movie is fire, you know… unstoppable! “

Well, this user has a strong point! The movie has been getting massive appreciation, and has been having sold-out shows in most places. It, in a way, made up for the slight disappointment (read mediocrity) of the star's previous movie- L2: Empuraan. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the movie was a commercial success, despite being the most expensive Mohanlal movie. It, however, received mixed responses from the public and landed in some serious controversies, before finally making it to OTT platforms.

'Thudarum' Is Already A Hit!

Watch on YouTube

In the first three days, the emotional thriller directed by Tharun Moorthy posted a net (Indian) box office collection of 24.10 Crores. Released on April 25, 2025, the movie collected ₹5.25 crore on Day 1 (as per the Sacnilk website).

The first day saw up to 62.27% occupancy, with the numbers surging to a staggering 84% for the night shows. Kochi and Calicut recorded the most number of footfalls. Kochi posted 99% occupancy during night screenings, and at the time of writing this article, it is quite difficult to grab a ticket at most major theatres.

Kerala Police And The Digital Landscape

Kerala Police has built a strong reputation for blending trending topics with public service messages, and this latest campaign only adds to this creative streak. In the past, we have seen several interesting (and witty) social posts and campaigns from the department's digital wing.

The witty and humorous comments made by people on such posts and the replies they receive from the Cops' digital wing, are often noted by netizens. On the other side of things, Kerala's police and Motor vehicle departments are among the strictest in terms of enforcing actions against violators.
