“If You Shoot Reels Here, We Will Break Your Arms And Legs”- No, we aren’t saying this. And it isn’t a threat the Lawrence Bishnoi gang issued to Salman Khan. You get to see this printed on a banner in a village in Kerala! Locals of Kizhakkan Muthoor village, near Thiruvalla, have issued this public threat to bikers filming or attempting reels on the scenic stretch of road here. There are multiple layers to this event, which we’ll talk about in detail.

The Manakkachira- Kizhakkan Muthoor road is quite scenic. It is smooth and well-built. There are trees and greenery around, and the traffic is minimal on most days. This, thus makes for the perfect setting for a reel that could go viral. The place also has good-looking twisties. This persuades amateur riders to attempt stunts, corner hunting and high-speed fly-bys here. These often lead to mishaps and accidents.

The Recent Accident

Recently, a high-speed crash occurred here, which prompted the locals to issue an open threat. A speeding bike (most likely a Yamaha R15 with a tweaked exhaust) was being filmed for an Instagram reel. It is seen negotiating corners dangerously and speeding further. Milliseconds later, it loses control and hits an auto rikshaw that’s parked near the Nattukadavu bridge. The three-wheeler topples under the impact. Interestingly, all of this was filmed!

Locals soon rushed to the site and initiated rescue operations. One of them later spoke to the media about what actually happened. According to a witness/rescue team member, the bike was overspeeding and performing ‘stunts’ (which we presume was a high-speed cornering attempt).

The amateur soon lost control and hit the auto that was parked near the bridge. It overturned and the biker panicked. Fortunately, the three-wheeler had just the driver inside, who made it out without major injuries. The panicked biker tried to make a quick flee but hit the bridge and fell off again. The R15 took a bigger hit this time, and almost got shredded into pieces. There were a total of four, on two motorcycles. Sensing danger, the other two fled the scene.

Enraged locals blocked the rider and his pillion from escaping and handed them over to the cops. Both vehicles took severe damage even when all the humans remained safe. The video shared by Mathrubhumi says the cost of repair could be around 10,000. However, we think it could be higher.

Surprisingly, the autorickshaw driver agreed to not take the legal route, and no charges were imposed on the youth. They were taken to the nearest police station and were reportedly given ‘advices and lectures on practising safe riding’.

The auto rikshaw workers of the place then issued an open threat to anyone attempting motorcycle reels there by publishing a banner that reads “If You Shoot Motorcycle Reels Here, We Will Break Your Arms And Legs”. You could see the banner on the bridge at the time of writing this article. While many of you might find it appropriate, there is something terribly wrong about it.

The Threat: What Is Wrong With It?

If You Shoot Reels Here, We Will Break Your Arms And Legs

It is obvious for people to get pissed by clowns doing stuff that are dangerous to themselves and the public. However, getting out to manhandle the accused is not something that the law permits. The threat here feels like Gunda-raj even when you and I are aware of the cause and the context.

We understand that reckless riding is dangerous (and stupid) and do not promote it either. However, it is still a crime to unleash physical assault on someone just because he/she has done reckless driving/ riding, as long as you aren’t a cop yourself. Imagine yelling ‘ I’ll break your legs and arms, because you’ve done something wrong, and I’ve got my mates to back me up in case you decide to fight back’, well, that’s how illegal this gets if analysed carefully.

What should you ideally do if you spot someone attempting reckless riding? Well, take note of the vehicle number and report it to the cops with ample details. A photo or video would be of additional benefit. In another case, you can also try to stop them and inform the cops and hand them over, without physical assault or violence. White-painting Gunda-raj is not something 2025 would be ok with!
