Rs 1.6 Crore Land Rover Defender Catches Fire In Gujarat: Passengers Escape Safely [Video]

When you spend over Rs 1.6 crore on a vehicle like a Land Rover Defender, you’d never expect that one day it will start burning down after being parked. Unfortunately for this particular Defender owner, this nightmare became real. Recently, a video has been shared online in which a Land Rover Defender from Gujarat was seen getting engulfed in fire on the side of a road.
The video showing this sad moment of a Land Rover Defender getting burnt to ashes has been shared on Youtube. In this short clip, we can note that a Fuji white-colored Land Rover Defender 110 was burning on the side of a road.
We can note that the fire was continuously increasing. Thankfully, the firefighters arrived at the spot on time and, in the video, can be seen spraying the SUV with water. Unfortunately, they were not able to save the Defender. However, they were able to get control of the situation and avoid the spreading of this fire.
As per the video, nobody was inside the vehicle at the time it caught on fire. It was reported that the owner had parked the vehicle on the side of the road and left.
So far, there have been no reports which have mentioned the true cause behind this fire. However, there are speculations that an electrical short circuit of any of the components inside the vehicle caused this fire.
Generally, a lot of times when Indian vehicles catch on fire on public roads, the blame is pinned on aftermarket electrical parts installed. However, in the case of high-end vehicles like this Land Rover Defender, it is assumed that no aftermarket accessory has been added.
We can also note that the fire was mainly concentrated in the middle section of the vehicle. This suggests that it was unlikely that anything wrong took place under the bonnet.
This is not the first instance of a vehicle from the British SUV manufacturer catching on fire this year. Just a few months ago, in July of this year, another video became viral on the internet. In this particular reel, a brand-new Rs 4 crore Range Rover was seen with fire at a toll gate.
It was noted that a Lantau Bronze Range Rover was burning at a toll gate where a few police personnel, along with others, were trying to stop the fire. These people were seen throwing water from bottles on the fire, which was mainly under the bonnet. In this case, as well, the exact reason behind the fire was unknown.
Many people believe that the fire in the case of the Range Rover was caused due to an oil leak. This was said because just a few months ago, Land Rover and Jaguar issued a recall in the USA for models that were produced in 2024. A total of 2,128 vehicles were recalled.
It was stated that the oil filter housings in these vehicles were made of a plastic which was not up to their specifications. They added that there is a risk of oil leaking onto the hot engine bay, causing a fire. It has to be noted that no recalls regarding this issue have been made in India.
