India's First Land Rover Defender Police Car Is Here (Video)

The rich individuals in India are mostly seen being driven around in convoys of super expensive and rare luxury cars. Now, due to their popularity, these people are often given security by the state they live in if requested by them. As a result, they are provided with police authorities to protect them. Now, most of these people let the police authorities use their old Boleros and other vehicles. However, recently, a video has been shared online in which a VVIP has given the police a Land Rover Defender worth Rs 1.5 crore.

This video of India's first Land Rover Defender being used as a police vehicle has been shared on Instagram by Auto Journal India on their page. In this video, it starts off with a clip of a white Land Rover Defender driving on the road. The video then mentions, “When the entire world thought that the Land Rover Defender is unaffordable, UP police got it as a security vehicle.”

Following this, the clip then shows a different Fuji White-colored Land Rover Defender parked on the side of a road. It can be noted that this particular vehicle had police stickers on the front, bonnet, as well as on the sides. Apart from these, the vehicle also had red and blue police lights on top as well. We can observe that a security personnel was standing in front of this vehicle.

Is this Land Rover Defender really owned by UP police?

The simple answer is no, this particular Land Rover Defender is not directly owned by Uttar Pradesh police authorities. It is owned by a VVIP who has provided this vehicle to the police authorities and security guards whom he has appointed for his personal security. It can be noted that the owner of this Defender himself gets driven around in a Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 luxury SUV worth Rs 3.5 crore.

Why does the police need a Land Rover Defender?

Now, many people might be wondering why exactly the police officials assigned for the security of this VVIP would require a Land Rover Defender. Well, the answer to this is that most of these ultra-high-net-worth individuals get driven around in powerful luxury cars that are driven at high speeds to reduce the chances of attacks.

So, in order to avoid getting left behind in old SUVs like Mahindra Boleros and other vehicles that are provided by the government, these VVIPs generally prefer to provide their security teams with such expensive security escort vehicles. One of the prime examples of such security vehicles is the ones used by the Ambani family.

Apart from this particular Land Rover Defender, the VVIP who has provided this vehicle to his security team also has other high-end vehicles as security cars. These include a Land Rover Discovery 4 and a Mahindra Scorpio-N. As for the vehicles used by the VVIP, his convoy includes a Rolls-Royce Ghost EWB, Range Rover Autobiography and a Lexus LM 350h Ultra Luxury, along with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 seen in the above video. Who exactly is the owner of these cars is currently unknown.
