This Classic Land Rover Defender Is Actually A 20-Year Old Mahindra Bolero

The Land Rover Defender has been around for ages, and the classic Defender is a dream of many off-roading and SUV enthusiasts. However, it is very rare to come by, and buying one in India is super expensive. So, in order to get the same looks as the classic Land Rover Defender, this particular Mahindra Bolero owner has converted his SUV into one. Recently, a detailed walkaround video of this Mahindra Bolero, which has been converted into a Land Rover Defender, has been shared online.
This video showing the Bolero Defender conversion has been shared on YouTube by Heyy Harry on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that in this video, he will be showing a one-off Mahindra Bolero, which has been converted into a Land Rover Defender from the early 2000s. After this, the video shows a few beauty shots of this unique SUV.
Following the introduction, the vlogger starts by stating that this particular vehicle belongs to a friend of his friend. He then starts by showing the exterior design of this vehicle. The vlogger states that this particular SUV does not retain a single piece of exterior body from the original 1990s Mahindra Bolero on which it is based.
The friend of the owner of this unique SUV highlights that the entire body has been custom-made, including the front fascia, grille, bonnet, fender flares, door panels, and rear section. He added that the vehicle at the front also gets a custom-made metal bumper with a bull guard. There is also space for a winch, which will be added later.
After this, the host also shows the yellow fog lamps and the custom LED headlights, which have been added to this vehicle. There is also a Defender badge on the bonnet as well. Moving on to the side profile, the host highlights that the vehicle gets 33-inch all-terrain tyres and off-road-specific alloy wheels.
Custom side steps and a 6-inch lift have also been added to this SUV. Following the front and side profile, the vlogger and his friend move to the rear section of this Mahindra Bolero-to-Land Rover Defender conversion. He states that the rear gets a unique custom spare wheel carrier and a metal rear bumper as well. Also, the taillights have been inspired by the classic Defender as well.
The vlogger then shows the interior of this vehicle. He first opens the front door and shows the interior, which has been fully covered in tan leather. The host states that it gets an aftermarket Android music system, a reverse camera, and ambient lighting as well. As for the instrument gauge cluster and steering wheel, they have been retained from the original Mahindra Bolero on which it is based.
Moving on, they both show the rear of this SUV. It can be noted that the jump-style third-row seats have been removed. Instead of those, the middle row has been shifted to the rear section, and as a result, it has a ton of legroom. The vlogger also shows the roof liner of the vehicle, which has also been wrapped in tan leather with a diamond-quilted pattern.
The vlogger at last opens the engine bay and shows the original 1999 Mahindra Bolero Di engine. This 2.5-litre diesel is capable of producing 69 bhp and 176 Nm of torque. Also, this generation of the Bolero came with a five-speed manual gearbox and a 4X4 system with a manual transfer case.
