Mahindra Bolero is one of the oldest models in the Mahindra lineup that is still in production. The MUV has been quite popular among buyers from rural and even urban areas. Its extremely utilitarian design and ladder-on-frame construction made it a workhorse in many parts of the country. Over the years, we have seen several modifications on the Mahindra Bolero. While some of them are executed well, most are done in such a way that it doesn’t lose its identity. We have seen people go with G-Wagen kits on Boleros in the past. Here we have one such video where a Mahindra Bolero has been modified to such an extent that it now looks more like a Land Rover Defender.

The video has been shared by Heyy Harry on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger and his friends do a quick walkaround of a modified Mahindra Bolero. The MUV has been modified to such an extent that it looks like a vintage Land Rover Defender.

Usually, when we look at a modified vehicle, you can actually figure out the donor vehicle. However, in this case, it is extremely difficult. Every exterior panel on this Bolero has been custom-made. It is not even an aftermarket body kit. The modification work on this SUV has been done by Big Daddy Modifiers, located in Jalandhar, Punjab.

The exterior panels have been completely built at the workshop. The front gets a metal off-road bumper with a bull bar. A set of auxiliary lamps can be seen on the bull bar. The bumper is also made from metal and it has integrated projector fog lamps.

Notably, both the front grille and the headlamp covers are custom-made units meticulously crafted from metal, rather than utilizing fiberglass panels. As for the headlamps themselves, they have been replaced with aftermarket projector LED units. The fenders and bonnet have also been redesigned, resulting in an SUV that closely mirrors the aesthetics of a previous-generation Defender SUV.

The chassis of the Bolero has also been extended in order to achieve Defender-like proportions. The doors, quarter glass, and rear fenders are all custom-made. There is an exo-skeleton on this SUV, intentionally installed to protect the shell, as you would not find an aftermarket unit for the same.

The SUV sits on 33-inch AT tyres wrapped around off-road rims. The SUV gets a 4-6 inch lift and as we move to the rear, we see the spare wheel too. To ensure the tailgate’s structural integrity, the spare wheel is mounted on the chassis using a dedicated mount, preventing the entire weight of the wheel from resting on the door. The interior of the SUV has also been redone. The SUV only has 2 rows. The third row has been removed and the second row of the SUV is pushed back to make more space for the occupants.

This is a 4x4 Mahindra Bolero and it still uses the same old 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. The vlogger’s friend, who is familiar with the vehicle, can be heard saying that the owner is planning to make a few upgrades to the engine in the future. Overall, this is a clean-looking specimen and probably India’s only Mahindra Bolero that is tastefully modified into a Defender.
