Mahindra Scorpio-N With Aftermarket CNG Kit: How It's Holding Up After 1 Year [Video]

A number of Mahindra Scorpio-N owners seem to be frustrated with the extremely poor fuel efficiency. This is especially the case with the petrol Scorpio-N owners. So, to increase the fuel efficiency, some people add a CNG kit to this SUV. Recently, a video has been shared online in which one such CNG kit-fitted Scorpio-N owner gave his honest review and all the statistics of fuel efficiency of the vehicle. He explains how the vehicle has performed over a span of a year after getting the kit installed.
This video review of the Mahindra Scorpio-N with a CNG kit has been shared on YouTube by Easy Drive CNG on their channel. It starts off with the owner of the shop mentioning that this particular Mahindra Scorpio-N was fitted with a CNG kit last year. He adds that the owner of this vehicle now brings another vehicle to their shop to get a CNG kit installed.
Following this he mentions that the Mahindra Scorpio-N petrol offers a mileage of 5-6 kmpl in city and 10 kmpl on highways during summer season. As a result a lot of people ask to get CNG kits installed in their SUVs. He elaborates that currently there is no approval for CNG kits for the Scorpio-N.
However, people still request them to install the kits. The owner continues and highlights that the Scorpio-N cannot be fitted with the standard Rs 45,000-50,000 CNG kits. Rather they get the special direct injection kits from EuropeGAS CNG kits which are priced at Rs 1.2 lakh.
Following the introduction, the owner of the shop starts showing the Scorpio-N. He first opens the bonnet of this SUV and shows the direct injection CNG kit. The owner highlights that it gets EuropeGAS provided ECM (Engine control module), double stage CNG reducer and Japanese injectors.
He adds that from a glance it is very hard for anyone to tell that a CNG kit has been installed in the vehicle. Following this he then moves to the interior of the SUV to show the placement of the switch of the CNG. During this he mentions that generally CNG kit installation on other cars takes around 4-5 hours. However in the Scorpio-N it takes two days.
Following this he shows the instrument cluster and adds that there are no engine lights or any other fault codes. Moving on he moves to the rear end and shows the rear end of this SUV which gets a 12 kg cylinder. He adds that it can accommodate 7.5-8 kgs of gas. The owner also shows the CNG filling nozzle which is installed just next to the fuel filling point.
The shop owner then goes to the owner of this Mahindra Scorpio-N and asks him about the mileage. To this he replies that he currently gets around 7.5 kg CNG in the tank and it can drive up to 120 km which comes out to around 16 km/kg. He also highlights that it requires 3 litres of petrol as well. So the total cost of fuel comes to around Rs 885 and he can drive around 120 km in the city and 160 km on highway which is much better than the stock car.
