Stray Cattle Causes Massive Mahindra Scorpio-N Crash: Airbags Save Driver [Video]

Indian roads and highways are something that is filled with nothing short of surprises. Even the newly built ones are developing potholes and craters that are causing accidents. Another challenge that most road users in India face is from stray cattle. They often jump onto the road and cause congestion or even accidents on highways. Here we have a video where a cow in the middle of the road caused a major Mahindra Scorpio N accident.
The video has been circulating online. It was recorded by someone who was present at the spot or was passing through the same route as the Mahindra Scorpio. The video only starts after the accident.
We see the camera person running towards the Mahindra Scorpio N that was on the rightmost lane next to the median. The tyre of the SUV was rolling on the road, which means the accident had happened just seconds ago. The locals and other road users run towards the SUV and open the door to check the occupants.
Thankfully, all the airbags in the SUV had opened in time, and we see smoke coming out of the cabin as well as from other parts of the car after the collision. Initially, it felt like the driver lost control and crashed into the median, but then the person recording the video shows the cow lying on the left side of the road.
This painted a clear picture of what might have happened. The exact location of the crash is not known, but it is somewhere in North India. People often leave their cattle to roam free and feed, and these animals often wander onto highways.
They often end up on the median of the highways as they usually have grass and tall bushes on them. These animals cross the roads without looking. They often get scared when heavy vehicles like trucks pass too close and fast to the median. When this happens, they often jump or run to the other side of the road.
A motorist, when he suddenly sees cattle in front of his vehicle, is surprised and, in a bid to avoid the crash, either ends up colliding with other vehicles or crashing into the animal itself. In this case, the reason why this accident happened is probably because the cow decided to come onto the road, and the Scorpio N driver didn’t have enough time and space to either swerve the car or stop.
The driver-side headlamp, bumper, and bonnet of the Scorpio N are severely damaged, and it looks like on impact one of the wheels of the SUV also came off. It was a major accident, but thankfully the driver and other occupants in the vehicle escaped without major injuries. We can see the driver walk out of the vehicle unhurt.
The comment section under this social media post shows how people are frustrated with the authorities for not taking necessary action to stop cattle from coming onto the highways. Many of them are seen making fun or leaving sarcastic comments against the authorities.
This video is an example of why one should be extremely careful while driving on Indian roads. Always be alert and expect the worst. Try to maintain a constant speed, and that too within the speed limits. Also, install a dashcam in your car to prove your innocence, as we have heard of many cases where the driver had to pay compensation in such accidents despite it not being their fault.
