Speeding on narrow roads can be dangerous, and we have seen several videos that prove this. We have come across several accident videos from Kerala where rashly driven vehicles have caused accidents. Here, we have one such video where a Mahindra Scorpio-N crashed into a KSRTC bus on a curve. The video of the Mahindra Scorpio-N and bus crash has gone viral on the internet.

The video has been shared by Asianet News on their YouTube channel. Coming to the video, the accident was recorded on a CCTV camera installed outside a shop. The accident happened in Kollam’s Kottarakara region. In the video, we see a fairly busy single-lane road. We see a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus moving from the left side of the screen to the right.

The bus had passengers in it and was maintaining a slow speed. The section we see here on camera is actually a curve. We see a Mahindra Scorpio-N coming from the right side of the screen, and it is very evident that the Scorpio N was speeding. The SUV was probably overtaking another vehicle in front when the driver spotted the bus.

The SUV driver managed to avoid a head-on collision, but he could not avoid the crash. The front of the SUV rubbed against the side body of the bus, and the front of the Scorpio N hit the rear tires. The SUV hit the bus with so much impact that the rear wheels and axle of the bus came off.

In the video, we see the rear axle of the bus flying away from the vehicle. The bus itself was up in the air for a few seconds. All the dirt accumulated under the body masked the view. Thankfully, the bus landed upright, but the driver had lost power. Vehicles like buses are RWD (rear-wheel-drive), and the driver lost that functionality in this accident.

Scorpio N crashes into bus

This meant the bus driver had no choice but to leave the bus in the middle of the road. As mentioned above, this was a busy road with several state and privately owned buses and other vehicles passing through it. The bus in the middle of the road was creating issues for other road users.

Just behind the Scorpio-N was a Mercedes-Benz. The sedan was also approaching at high speed, but the driver managed to slow down before crashing into the bus or the Scorpio N. The Mercedes-Benz driver turned the car into the parking lot of the shopping complex where the camera was placed.

Coming to the Scorpio-N, the SUV handled the impact pretty well. The driver-side front wheel, driver-side door, windshield, fenders, and bumper were damaged in the crash. However, the pillar of the SUV remained intact, and the driver of the SUV survived the crash with minor injuries.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is actually a sturdy SUV and had scored a clear 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. It was, in fact, one of the first SUVs to undergo the crash test with updated and stricter norms.
