Mahindra is one of the biggest SUV manufacturers in the country. They have a variety of models spread across different segments. Their SUVs are in high demand not just in India but globally as well. When it comes to Mahindra, one of their most popular and best-selling SUVs in the Indian market is the Scorpio. They launched the new-generation Scorpio as the Scorpio N and decided to continue selling the older-generation model alongside it. This way, they managed to expand their SUV line-up and keep customers happy too. Mahindra is now working on a facelift for the Scorpio N, and the same was recently spotted testing.

The Mahindra Scorpio N was recently seen testing with heavy camouflage. The exterior of the SUV was captured from the rear, and from the images, it looks like Mahindra might not make many changes to the exterior. It looks more or less the same with tall tail lights and an almost vertical rear design with muscular elements.

It seems that with the facelift, Mahindra might only make minor cosmetic changes to the exterior of the SUV. It might get a new design for the alloy wheels, and we might even see minor changes to the front grille, bumper, or possibly even the LED DRL design on the bumper. Mahindra might also offer bigger 19-inch wheels on some variants of the Scorpio N.

Where Mahindra might actually focus more is on the features and interior. They might offer the same colour theme and layout as the current version but may include more features like Level 2 ADAS in more variants, an electric parking brake, ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, better camera and display quality, and so on.

When it comes to the engine, the Scorpio N might not see any changes. The SUV will continue to come with a 2.0-litre mStallion series turbocharged petrol engine that will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The diesel version of the Scorpio N uses a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged engine that is offered in two states of tune. The higher variants of the diesel Scorpio N even get the option of 4x4 and are available with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Mahindra launched the Scorpio N as an option for customers who wanted a Scorpio with more features. For those who wanted a rugged SUV with minimum features, they still have the original Scorpio on sale as the Scorpio Classic.

This strategy helped Mahindra secure a major chunk of the SUV market in India. The mid-size SUV segment in India is dominated by Mahindra with around 78 percent market share. Out of this, the Mahindra Scorpio range (Scorpio Classic + Scorpio N combined) holds 45.34 percent.

This makes the Scorpio N the best-selling SUV in the segment. Mahindra is not only selling the Scorpio N in India but abroad as well. Mahindra is also working on the XUV700 facelift, or XUV 7XO, which is expected to be launched next month.
