Mahindra Scorpio-N Driver Challenges Charging Elephant: Gets Away With A Dent On The Bonnet [Video]

Driving through jungles, you never know what you may encounter. Sometimes, it could be a group of small monkeys on the side of the road, or on other occasions, it could be a tiger or a wild elephant. Recently, a video has gone viral on the internet in which an angry wild elephant was seen charging towards a Mahindra Scorpio-N. This SUV was on a jungle road during the night when the driver challenged the charging elephant.
This video, showing the Mahindra Scorpio-N driver challenging the elephant when it was angry, has been shared on Instagram by Car.collection1 on their page. In this short clip, we can note that a Mahindra Scorpio-N was facing an elephant which was very angry and was charging towards the vehicle on a single-lane road.
The driver of this particular SUV immediately started driving the vehicle in reverse gear to make sure that the elephant did not run over his vehicle. What happens next is that the driver keeps reversing the vehicle, trying to make sure that he does not get off the road or crash into any obstacle or tree.
However, after some time of reversing, we can note that the vehicle was stopped on the side of the road. At the same time, we can also observe that the bonnet of this particular SUV was dented. Most likely, the elephant was either able to make this dent with his trunk or with his legs.
The saving grace in this particular case was that the vehicle was still operable. As a result, after stopping at one point, the driver decided to challenge the elephant and then turned his vehicle towards the left and immediately drove away at a high speed to avoid any further chase.
Many netizens have highlighted that the Mahindra Scorpio-N driver should not have challenged the elephant. They have also suggested that he should have turned off the lights of his vehicle. The sound of the engine and the bright lights, especially the blue and red police lights installed on this Scorpio-N, might have agitated the elephant.
Also, elephants in general are very protective of their region. As a result, when their personal space is entered by a stranger (the Scorpio-N in this scenario), they can get very angry and charge towards them to make sure that they are removed from their territory.
The above incident, where a wild elephant charged towards a vehicle with humans, is not the first time. There are numerous occasions on which such incidents have taken place. Recently, a video went viral on the internet in which a wild elephant on the road attacked a car and stepped on the bonnet. This incident took place in Malakkappara, Kerala.
What happened was that an elephant with her calf was seen crossing a road. However, at the same time, a car came in front of these elephants. The driver of this car then panicked and applied brakes, and this provoked the animal. As a result, the elephant started walking towards the car. It checked the vehicle, and when it sensed danger, it started fiddling with the ORVMs and even stepped on the bonnet.
