Mahindra Thar Gets MASSIVE 3.5 Lakh Discount: Waiting Period Down To 3 Months After ROXX Launch

Mahindra Thar is one of the most popular 4×4 SUVs in India. Since its launch in 2020, the SUV has been in high demand, and Mahindra wasn’t able to produce enough of these SUVs on time for buyers. There was a time when people were willing to pay a premium to get a Mahindra Thar and skip the long waiting period. However, things have changed, and especially with the launch of the more practical Thar Roxx, the waiting period for the Mahindra Thar has decreased. Not only has the waiting period shortened, but the price of the SUV has also come down. You can buy a Thar at a substantial discount of Rs 3.5 lakh.

The video has been shared by MRD Cars on its YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger discusses the Earth Edition launched by Mahindra. The Thar Earth Edition was launched recently, but it didn’t get the response expected by the brand. It is finished in a desert sand brown shade with Earth Edition badging in various places.

Apart from these cosmetic changes, everything else remains the same as the regular Thar. It appears that Mahindra Thar customers didn’t favor the Earth Edition, and dealerships haven’t been able to sell many units of this SUV. With the launch of the Mahindra Thar Roxx in the market, buyer attention has shifted towards the 5-door SUV, and many people are choosing that as well.

We’ve previously discussed reasons to choose the Thar Roxx over the regular Thar. The Thar Roxx has more doors, which makes a significant difference in terms of practicality. Getting in and out is much easier in the Thar Roxx, and compared to the Mahindra Thar, the Roxx has more features and a premium-looking cabin.

It’s also bigger in dimension. All these factors have drawn people towards the Roxx, meaning Mahindra needed to come up with ways to clear existing stock at dealerships.

Various dealerships across the country have started offering discounts. The RWD version of the SUV was initially offered with a discount of around Rs 1.5 lakh immediately after the Roxx launch.

In this video, the vlogger mentions that the Earth Edition of the Mahindra Thar can be bought at a substantial discount of Rs 3 lakh. Depending on the dealership and your negotiation skills, you may get a discount of Rs 3.5 lakh as well. It’s unclear whether this discount applies only to the Earth Edition or to the 4×4 versions in general.

With the drop in demand for the Mahindra Thar, the waiting period for this SUV has also decreased. When it was launched in 2020, some variants had a waiting period of over a year.

Now, things have changed. The 4×2 variants of the Mahindra Thar have a waiting period of around 2 months. The 4×4 convertible version has a waiting period of up to 3 months, and the 4×4 hard top diesel has a waiting period of 2 months, while the petrol version has a 3-month wait. Mahindra Thar is available with a 2.0 litre mStallion turbocharged petrol and a 2.2 litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine option. The 4×2 version uses a smaller 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine.
