Mahindra Thar ROXX Desert Edition: What It’ll Look Like [Video]
Mahindra Automotive has recently taken the covers off the brand-new Thar Roxx five-door SUV. Presently, the company is offering this SUV in seven different colors, namely: Tango Red, Stealth Black, Everest White, Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Battleship Grey, and Burnt Sienna. However, recently, a rendering of this newly launched SUV in a rugged-looking Desert Storm color has been shared online.

Over the years, SRK Designs has shared a number of detailed renderings of popular cars, and this time, he has imagined how the new Thar Roxx will look in a Desert Edition. He has shared a side-profile look of the Thar Roxx in a Desert Sand Storm color.

From the rendering, we can note that all the body panels have been finished in a Metallic Sand color. It has a golden hue to it, and it looks very beautiful. The artist has kept all the claddings in the same matte black finish, which adds to the ruggedness of this SUV. The 19-inch alloy wheels have also been finished in gunmetal grey.
Apart from this, the roof has been kept black, which is something the stock Thar Roxx gets from the factory. Overall, this Desert Edition looks very realistic, and we hope that Mahindra can bring this to reality. It will definitely attract a ton of buyers, as the Thar three-door’s Earth Edition, which also gets a golden color, has become very popular.

This side-profile rendering once again brings our attention to the design of this highly anticipated SUV. Many people who were waiting for the launch of the Thar Roxx have loved this unique design. However, there are a ton of people with whom this design has not resonated. Recently, we shared a post in which a person was seen abusing Mahindra’s chief designer as well.
In that post, a user on Instagram shared a strongly worded direct message to Pratap Bose, the chief designer for Mahindra. The person stated that this is a very poor design choice, and he is very disappointed. He also stated that Mahindra should kick him out for designing such a horrible car.
Now, we understand that the person might not like the design of the Thar Roxx for which he was waiting for so long. It has to be noted that automotive designs are very subjective. In the design world, what we may like might not be your cup of tea and vice versa. But this does not warrant the need to abuse someone.
Also, we understand that the Thar Roxx design is very polarizing. However, it also has to be noted that sometimes these designs, which people do not like in the beginning, slowly become more engraved in our brains, and we start liking them. For example, when the second generation of the Creta was launched, a number of people disliked it.
However, a few months down the line, the same SUV managed to become the most popular compact SUV. The current generation Creta is also hated by a lot of people, yet it is still managing to sell like hotcakes. Now, coming back to the Thar Roxx, it also has to be mentioned that there is a reason for the company going with this unique design route.
Why has Mahindra gone with this design?
As you may know, the Thar Roxx looks very similar to the Jeep Wrangler. And as Mahindra plans on offering this SUV in the international markets, it would have become difficult for the brand to market it internationally if its design was too similar to the Wrangler. It would have attracted a ton of lawsuits. Hence, this unique design of the C-pillar and rear triangular windows is somewhat justified.
