Mahindra Thar Roxx Alloy Wheels Break After Service Center Fails To Fasten Disc Brake Calipers [Video]

Mahindra Thar Roxx, launched last year, has gained popularity among young SUV buyers in India. The reason behind its popularity was its practicality, looks, and premium features at an interesting price point. In the past, we have come across several instances where people have faced issues with Mahindra service centers. Here, we have one such video where a Mahindra Thar Roxx customer faced issues because of irresponsible behaviour by the service center staff. This one act left the customer with not just one but two broken alloy wheels.
The video has been shared by Maddy Rider on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger starts by mentioning that he was getting his car washed at a local spot near his home before starting a road trip. After washing the car, he was trying to get the car off the ramp in reverse when he suddenly heard a loud thud from the rear wheels.
He checked and found that the rear left wheel had gone flat. He thought that the tyre must have gone flat and decided to get it changed after getting the car onto the road. However, when he tried to reverse the car, he heard more noise from the rear wheels, along with the sound of metal rubbing against them.
The owner got worried and then luckily found a mechanic who was next to the car washing station. The mechanic came to the spot and removed the flat tyre. When they took the wheel out, they realised that the tyre had not gone flat - the alloy was broken on the inside.
The owner was surprised to see such a thing. The mechanic then checked the car and found the cause as well. He told the owner that the issue was due to the brake caliper. When the car had gone to the service center the last time, they had forgotten to secure the caliper in place using the screw or bolt. The missing screw meant the caliper was moving freely and, over a period of time, it moved up and started rubbing against the wheel.
It wasn’t creating any issues while moving forward as it was stuck at an angle. However, when the owner reversed, the caliper got stuck on the wheel and had no place to move, so it pierced through the wheel and caused damage.
The mechanic also told him that the rear brakes were not getting applied, as there was surface rust on the disc. After realising this, the owner called the service center and requested RSA. He registered the complaint and had to wait for around 5 hours for the flatbed to arrive.
He was really frustrated with the service, and when they arrived, he explained the issue. Despite this, the RSA team installed the spare wheel and tried to move the car in reverse. That caused the same issue again, and the owner was left with not one but two broken alloy wheels.
Once this happened, the RSA team finally came to their senses and brought another piece of equipment to place under the wheel before pushing the car back. The car was finally loaded onto the flatbed, and the owner was left with two broken alloy wheels.
It is such behaviour and lack of understanding that often leads to problems in such cases. Hopefully, he doesn’t have to start another argument with the service staff and gets the issue fixed in a timely manner.
