Thar ROXX Sunroof Fails During Test Drive – Should You Care? (Video)
Mahindra Automotive has once again hit it out of the park with the launch of the new Thar Roxx in India. It has announced that in just the first hour after commencing bookings, the company received over 1.76 lakh reservations. Even before taking official bookings, the company started offering test drives for this model. Recently, a video was shared online showing how a brand-new Mahindra Thar Roxx’s sunroof was unable to close due to a malfunction.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Sunroof Fails at Dealership
This particular video of the test drive model of the Mahindra Thar Roxx with an unresponsive sunroof has been shared on Instagram. It comes courtesy of Arpit Ramesh Sharma. In this short clip, a person can be seen sitting inside a Mahindra Thar Roxx SUV at a Mahindra dealership.
He can be seen sitting alongside a sales representative from the dealership. The person mentions that the sunroof of the Thar Roxx is not working. He can then be heard abusing and stating that this vehicle cannot perform off-roading as it has too many sensors.
The sales associate then states that this is not the case and that it has been built to off-road. Following this, the person continues bashing the car and states that the sunroof has broken while standing at the dealership. During this, the Mahindra sales representative asks the man to stop recording the video.
To this, the person responds by asking why the company is scared to show the faults. He then jokingly asks the person sitting behind how this can happen. The person adds that he has come to the dealership to make a reservation for the vehicle, as he is interested in buying one.
What Happened?
From the video, we can note that the panoramic sunroof of this SUV was opened halfway. However, even after switching off and then turning on the ignition, it does not help in closing the sunroof. Due to this, the person who came to reserve the Thar Roxx was questioning its quality.
Is This a Big Issue?
Well, the answer to this question is that it is not a huge issue. This is because, generally, cars used for test drives are handled very roughly. Sometimes, things can stop functioning as they are intended to. However, this does not mean that the vehicle is of bad quality or that there are issues with it.
In the case of this particular Thar Roxx with the non-functional sunroof, it could have happened that its switch might have been broken. This is generally a small issue and can be easily resolved. It should be noted that small issues like these are very common with test vehicles.
Social Media Blows Things Out of Proportion
We understand that social media has helped many people expose the tactics employed by automakers and corporations. However, it should also be noted that small issues are often blown out of proportion. We need to be cognizant of what is actually a big issue and what is not.

As stated, the Mahindra Thar Roxx has managed to take over the SUV segment. It is the more practical version of the three-door Thar, which has already enjoyed its fair share of success in India. The new Thar Roxx has become a perfect combination of a rugged off-roader and a luxurious SUV.
