Mahindra Thar ROXX Transformed Into Budget-Friendly 2-Bed Camper [Video]
The car camping culture in India is slowly increasing. As a result of this, more camping enthusiasts are now converting their vehicles into campers, which they can take on long adventure trips. Recently, a video has been shared online in which a Mahindra Thar ROXX owner shows his SUV fitted with a custom camping setup. It consists of a bed, an induction, and a storage box. He also reveals the cost of this conversion as well.
The video showing the Mahindra Thar ROXX converted into a camping vehicle has been shared on YouTube by Dekho Ye Bhi on their channel. It starts off with the host introducing the owner of this particular Mahindra Thar ROXX. The first question he asks him is about his decision to buy the Thar ROXX. To this, he started by answering that he had four cars in mind before he finalized the Thar ROXX.
Cancelled Maruti Jimny twice to buy Thar ROXX
During the conversation, the owner highlighted that when the Jimny first launched in India in 2023, he booked it. However, after seeing it in real life, he cancelled his booking. Then he was again offered a Jimny from Hyderabad for Rs 12 lakh, and he booked it again.
However, once again he did not like it, and the rumours for Thar ROXX started coming in, so he again cancelled the Jimny. Other cars which he shortlisted were the Mahindra Thar three-door, Force Gurkha, and the Mahindra Bolero Neo+. However, none of these vehicles were good enough for him.
He then finally booked the Thar ROXX on October 3rd, 2024, and took delivery of his SUV in February 2025. The vlogger then asked about the price of the Thar ROXX. To this, the owner mentions that he paid Rs 15.4 lakh for the car, and Rs 60,000 was paid for compulsory accessories by the dealership.
Mahindra Thar ROXX budget camping setup
Following this, the vlogger then asked the owner to give a tour of his Mahindra Thar ROXX camper. For this, he first opens the rear left door and shows the side view of this camping setup.
He mentions that the rear seat has been removed and has been replaced with a custom-built bed frame, which can be converted into seats as well. He added that four people can sit on it comfortably, and six after adjusting.
The owner then adds that this frame has been bolted to the original seat holders. So in future, if he wants to add back the seats, he can easily do it. He then shows that the vehicle can be converted into a bed by flipping the seat and adding cushions. Also, he adds that he has an electric induction and storage space for his trips. He also mentions that he has ordered Ecoflow for power supply as well.
After this, he shows how the seating setup can be converted into a bed setup. Finally, he talks about the cost of this conversion. As per the owner, this entire setup cost him Rs 80,000. He added that he has done a few trips so far in this vehicle, and he is very happy with the result.
